I just watched the first episode of Kill la Kill.

...look...I...

give me a minute...

...

sigh ok...ok

so, I like overexaggerating for the sake of humor. So whenever something ridiculous or easy to make fun of comes from Japan, I act like it's the best thing ever made or the most ridiculous thing ever made. It's never either but it's fun. But, I'm not sure I can do that anymore in terms of insanity. This anime was...too much. I'm surprised my mind got through it because this is truly, 22 of the most over-the-top, completely insane minutes I've ever experienced. In theory, I should already be a big fan but it's gone so far beyond that and everything that, and I'm not kidding, I'm not entirely sure I'll be able to fully enjoy it. It's possibly too good.

If you liked the first episode, you'll enjoy the second and third I'd wager. Although personally, I think the fanservice is a bit much. You'll see what I mean.

Well I just finished Little Garden. Marathoned the last 5 eps just now. Watched the first ep last night and the first three this morning. So far it's my favorite arc this saga. Now onto Drum Island and a new crew member!

I've kept a policy of not knowing at all what happens in the introductory arcs for the Straw Hats. Originally I tried to not know at all who any of the future crew members are, but that became impossible. Now I'm fine with knowing their name, look, and basic goals/personality. Anything else is a no.

Toonami Saturday night!

Bleach - Missed it.

Naruto - Pretty good episode. I hope Hinata pulls this through, she's the kind of character you can't not like.

One Piece - A good episode as well. The fight scene was over quick, but it was good, and just a small taste of what I feel is on the horizon. It was pretty funny seeing the crew goof off for a bit, too.

Soul Eater - Episode of the night! Looks like the big fight's beginning! Really though, there were some fantastic fight scenes in this one, with multiple confrontations, and it's only getting started! There's some tantalizing intrigue building up as well.

Sword Art Online - That was a weird episode... Good, but weird. I wish the big fight would have lasted longer, but at least it's conclusion was unexpected. Yet another solemn ending for the series, though...

SPECIAL CONTEST: Toonami has brought a Sword Art Online sweepstakes to light (thanks to Aniplex)! You could win...

To be honest, the entire conclusion was everything I expected to happen. I'm not even sure entirely why (though the Opening was a big giveaway), but I really wasn't surprised by anything that happened in this episode. It's the type of twist they would go for in the type of plot they were making, is the best I can explain. It was still a good twist, even though the emotional...I guess importance of it all felt too rushed considering how significant it was. It reminds me of how Zatch Bell's entire motivation tended to come down to what happened to a character that he met and was in a grand total of one episode.

How does Crimson Empire stand as a manga?

Oh my God it happened! A Star Wars MANGA!!! Head for the hills, people!

But seriously, I never heard of that until now, and personally I wouldn't trust it...not after those Marvel anime...

@Caniswolfred
There's been a manga adaption of episodes 4,5,6 and 1 already out for quite a few year. Also, I heard those marvel anime series were good...

You know, I try to patient with things and I tend to succeed more than most on the internets, but JO's lack of video updates have been annoying me. Especially with how much I love the Anime Derby thing (even just as a concept alone!). I don't have anywhere else to complain about this where it's worth even mentioning but...yeah. She's had some real life issues she's dealt with recently and I understand but it also seemed like she was back on track a while ago from what she said on the subject. I'm pretty sure she isn't though. Probably not worth complaining about but it's been bugging for me for a while, even though she's not even like my favorite of the eleventy billion internet reviewers or anything like that. It's probably because the longer it takes, the less the videos really matter.

Random other thing about Toonami, every week of Soul Eater is a tragic reminder of how mediocre/poor the animation in popular action anime can be by comparison.

Bakuman is over. I just finished reading volume 20. That was wonderful! Fantastic ending! Wraaaah I love this manga! It's been so long since a series made me get so attached to a set of characters! The ending was perfect! Man, seeing everybody grow was an amazing trip. The art was so beautiful for the final chapter. Ahh, I think this is my favorite manga now.

@kkslider5552000 I'm with you there. I love her stuff. But her inconsistent release schedule really makes it hard for me to even think, "oh, I should watch a JO video." I really do like her more than pretty much every reviewer/commentator out there; her style just really meshes well with what I like. It's why waiting is all the more annoying.

Best thread ever

BTW, there's going to be a couple of interesting Toonami weeks coming up.

This week sees FLCL added to the line up, and next week Daylight Savings time ends, meaning they'll have an extra hour to fill up (just for that week).
