Bwahahaha, iirc it had "The work which shall transcend genres will be called Cowboy Bebop" or something in one of the ad breaks. I didn't see it trying to be the greatest anime ever, but it did self-boast a great deal.

EDIT: Maybe the reason why I wasn't ticked off by it was because it popped up in an episode after I'd made the conclusion that it does do quite a bit of genre bending. In hindsight though, I agree with KKslider, nobody should do that ever

always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)

Geeze. You know, I'm starting the think I'm just gonna be watching Bleach and One Piece as constants, with only 1-2 other short shows being watched at the same time. FMA B is on hold because...it can wait. I'm gonna wrap up Fruits Basket and Lucky Star, finish Gargantia, and keep following Attack on Titan. Since it won't be too long before three of those shows are out of the way, I guess I'll start from there with 1-2 new one(s).

I hate attack on titan being a monthly manga. iT was awesome when I had 40 chapters to get caught up on, but now it seems like its dragging purposely.

Also, based on a discussion on the last page, it seems like I'm still the only person here who actually likes InuYasha, lol.

Though as others have said, I do feel that Inuyasha was too repetitive. I mean, I like repetitive shows to a degree - I watch super Robot and Magical girl shows from time to time, and it's rare that it gets more repetitive than those, yet I still couldn't stick with Inuyasha. So...props to you for being able to stick with and enjoy it for what it is.

I've heard people talking about it, but it looks like it suffers from the same thing that Kids on the Slope suffered from (everyone assuming that it's a BL series) except far worse. So far everything I've seen is swarming with fangirls talking about the attractive main characters, so I'll probably hold off unless it turns out that the series has a great dramatic plot or something

what i got from Cowboy Bebop is that it wants to be the greatest anime ever by not being anime

I'd probably respect this more if wasn't for the commercial break moments having text congratulating itself for being revolutionary. No one should do that ever.

I'm gonna be honest here: I don't like Cowboy Bebop. It's too seriously cheesy for its own good, the characters can be downright flat at times, if your main character isn't invested, neither am I (unlike FireFly and Trigun, where Mal and Vash are very dynamic and interesting), and the ending suffers from wha I've dubbed the "Evangelion Disease": when everything goes wrong and you have nothing to blame but the character'a own bottomless stupidity (seriously Eva: weapons of mass destruction, and someone decides "hey, let's give them to emotionally troubled teens!")

Eh, people can like what they want to.
Frankly, I quite like Eva and Cowboy Bebop. Whether you like it or not, the former changed the anime landscape, and Bebop is often accredited as a genre unto itself (a statement that I feel is justified). They're both must watches.

Although, I am very surprised that someone could dislike Cowboy Bebop. You've seen all of it, right? I thought Spike and the rest of the cast was quite invested in what was going on, and there was a lot to the story that made the characters much deeper, be it thier pasts or the existentialist take the makers used as the means to let the characters address their respective pasts. Then there's the little things; you know, Spike saying Faye sang off key, the eating of the cigarette, the way that the music always fits the scene, the list goes on. For a show that is very much style-over-substance, I found it to have better substance than 90% of what's out there.
Also, it is the gateway anime.

I watched the first episode twice now, lol. I love it. Good animation, but too much fan service. (Not really a problem if one likes it, like I do).

Still looking for tragic anime that can make me cry. Zero so far. Late thanks to those who gave me recommendations.
Madoka Magica was really good, I regret putting it off. I'm watching AnoHana right now, seems good and I like the art. Clannad, I found the first 6 episodes boring and I didn't like the art but I might try it again.

Say what now?

So, is anyone going to be watching Dog & Scissors? Imagine-Nation covered it Tuesday night, and it looks like it could be interesting.

Pretty much, it's a comedy series, where a teenage bookworm is shot during a robbery at his favorite café, and seemingly dies. However, he wakes up inside the body of a Miniature Dachshund, and is adopted by a crazy novelist who will do anything for story ideas. As it turns out, she also happens to be his favorite author, and is the only human who can understand him. They decide to track down the robber that shot him, find out why he's now a dog, and look for a way to return him to normal.

This is now the current lead for which anime I'll watch during the season.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 better be happening! In the meanwhile though, here's a fun little Let's Play of the original. Think you'll like the game if you like Zelda!

Also to those who like Rozen maiden (Dolls that are alive and fight each other) there is a 3rd season out now with episodes coming each week, they already released two episodes.

One thing I don't like about Fairy Tail is how the opening to the show is always changed to reflect the current plot and has spoilers in it. I try to just skip it every time, but you still catch some things sometimes.

God I hate when people use Romaji. I even watched Shugo Chara and I had to look that up. It just makes people seem so elitist when they know there's a million and one chance that anyone will actually understand what they're even saying. Especially when there's an acceptable english translated term ("My Own Heart...Unlock!", IIRC).

I think I know 2 examples off the top of my head when not using the english translation felt better to me (barring obvious 4kids examples of whatever).
1. Higurashi. Don't even care about the full name but "When They Cry" sounds so boring to me.
2. The catchphrases in Conan. Of course it is. Especially a very simple one where Conan sometimes introduces himself as "Edogawa Conan, tantei-san." Tantei-san means detective (same number of syllables) but they don't translate it exactly despite the fact that it would be perfectly fine. Weird choice and the dub voice actress is so weak anyway by comparison that the dialogue while thinking uses the older teenage version of the character's voice instead (which to be fair is a clever decision). But mostly this is about me being a hypocritical fanboy for the japanese version of this series, I will not even deny.

But I am really sick of not knowing people are talking about Black Butler because they use confusing japanese title etc.
