Time to bump this thread...
New year, meaning I need to get into another anime. lol

I'm just gonna go for another silly/comedy school anime, so anyone know any that are like School Rumble/Azumanga Daioh? Right now I decided to see what this Ouran High School Host Club is about via Youtube, though I read the description on Amazon and can't really tell if it's what I'm looking for.

^ I might look into that.

I just finished watching Death Note. It was one of those series you just keep hearing about so I thought I should give it a go.

So this series was absolutely great, a very fun watch indeed. Until a certain point and it was kinda meh. Ending was still good, though it all could have been more satisfying I think. But still glad I watched it.

I should now probably make a list of things I enjoyed watching and ask for recommendations here...

It's still crazy to me that Baruto and AoT Season 2 started around the exact same time. That's absolutely insane. That's like when Nintendo released a new Mario and Zelda the same day (except probably more successful as these anime aren't Wii U exclusive :V).

I was thinking what anime I should watch next and realized I never watched the 2nd half of the Ace Attorney anime. Huh.

@kkslider5552000 Have you ever played an Ace Attorney game? You're better off with the games than watching the anime adaptation, even if you did play the games I still don't recommend watching it.

Yes I have and um...you're not wrong!

How do you guys find the new season of "My Hero Academia" so far? I got into it (and manga and anime in general) when I asked a friend for something good to read in between lectures. Marvel and DC's latest stuff isn't interesting anymore with way too many crossover events. Kohei Horikoshi's work has really caught my interest!

I'll try and keep those in mind, decided to watch a few episodes of Ouran...favorite voices everywhere. Gonna have to go with this one. Oddly enough it's not an anime filled with schoolgirls for once anyway. xD

I'm cautiously optimistic for FLCL. I loved the original, but Adult Swim is co-developing the new season, and the last time they invested in an anime we got the second season of Big O, which wasn't as good as the first.

Currently I'm just happy to have the new season of Kyokai no Rinne. I love Rumiko Takahashi's work, and while the show doesn't do anything new, I find it to be good comfort food, so to speak.

Oh, and apparently they're making an anime Godzilla film, which I'm keeping my eye on.

So far I'm looking forward to two upcoming shows: Ghost in the Shell and FLCL (Fuuri Cooly). Does anyone else have a show that they're looking forward to?

I'm looking forward to shows that aren't 15+ years old personally. : 3

@kkslider5552000 Wow I feel old just hearing that it's been over 15 years, but what's wrong with shows being that old?

I like making fun of predictability and looking forward to something that's a continuation of a 15+ year franchise is as predictable as it gets.

Though to be fair, better that than looking forward to a reboot of a 15+ year franchise, since the former has a vastly better chance of actually being good.

Also, I think it's easier to get excited for a new series that is part of a franchise you're already familiar with (or have nostalgic ties to), than a series that's completely new to you, precisely because you know what to expect to a degree, compared to the unkown series which may be intriguing, but untested.

As much as I've come to enjoy My Hero Academia, for example, nothing beats the extra rush of excitement nostalgia brings to watching a new Kyokai no Rinne or Gundam episode.

Just finished the first season of boku no hero academia. The first episodes were ok but when the academia part started it became a little bit exhausting to watch for me. I thought it was funny when all might noticed at the end of the seventh episode that deku has another trait than "i want to become a hero". Wasnt a fan of the characters especially the mc but i like the design of all might in his undercover form. It wasnt bad but im sure i wont watch the next season(s).

Oh, I'm so excited! Apparently there are going to be three new Eureka 7 movies made, with the first one set to release this Autumn! As E7 is one of my favorite anime, I'm super excited (while I was disappointed with how it ended, I didn't even hate A.O., unlike most)!

From what little info has been released so far, they aren't going to be a reboot (like the new Eva films), but rather will feature a new story (stories?), that take place before and during the original series.

Bought the digital version of the original Ghost in the Shell yesterday on Amazon.

It's actually the first time I've bought any anime (usually just watch what's on TV, or occasionally stream something), so I'm pretty excited. Hopefully I get the chance to watch it tomorrow.

In other news, upon further digging, it appears the new trilogy of Eureka 7 films will indeed be a reboot. However, the first film will focus more on Renton's father and the origins of Eureka, events that weren't covered in great detail by the original series, while the other two movies will be a retelling of the main series, with an all new ending.

Just watched the fourth episode of kiznaiver. Im disappointed after kill la kill. I think they should have stayed on the over the top action and slapstick path. It was energizing and they were clearly masters in that aspect. This is a happy downer to me. Stuff i would have loved as a teen. They shouldnt burn the good stuff in anime shorts. So far it just feels like another anime. I know the cast is bad for me if they all combined cant even reach ryukos level. Not even close. An anime about bonds that is even named after it (i think) cant work for me if i dont care about the cast. Well its just the fourth episode but i already feel the drag. Maybe the next episodes will convince me.

@Tsurii Well if you like the cast thats ok. Im not against deep themes. But it should move me in some ways or make me want to know more. Kiznaiver doesnt do that for me. Kill la kill felt alive. It just felt good to watch. At the end of the day i want to be entertained. Regardless if its depth action or something else.
And dont forget this was just my first impression of the anime.

Speaking of Trigger, I've been watching the Little Witch Academia TV series.

I've found it charming, but nothing of much substance has happened in the first half. Luckily, it's entered it's second half, and things are starting to pick up.

I have also picked up Ghost in the Shell recently, and have watched it along with Ghost in the Shell 2. I loved GITS and that has become my favourite anime movie (though to be fair, I've not seen many anime movies yet, excluding Pokemon movies). My only issue with GITS was that it felt slightly short, I think it could have done with having at least one more fight sequence. GITS2 was still great, but I didn't like it on the same level as GITS.

Kill la Kill is still my favourite anime. It had the perfect mix of action, comedy, craziness and lewdness. All of the main characters are interesting in their own ways, and the crazy over the top nature of it is part of its appeal to me.

At the moment, I've been slowly watching School Rumble and Cardcaptor Sakura. I'm not usually that keen on the "girly girls in school" genre, so it's weird for me to be watching two of those shows at once. Despite that, I am rather enjoying them both.
