I was saving that for round 3, but now I won't have to. Still a really good song.

But how could I forget:

Attack on Titan op 1

Maison Ikkoku op 3

The World God Only Knows op 1 (This song is incredibly engrishy near the end, but I'll be darned if it ain't catchy as all get out)

"Ai no Senshi" from "Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon"

"Libera Me From Hell" from "Gurren Lagann"

"I Want You" from "Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt" (I could fill this whole list with nothing but tracks from Panty and Stocking and be perfectly satisfied, so awesome is its OST, but in the interest of variety I'll only include my favorite song)

Kimagure Orange Road op 1

I like that opening. Very hardcore. Lots of energy. The visuals are terrific. And, of course, you have to love the awkward English cursing.

If you want true pain, I'll be happy to share it with you. One of the best anime I've ever seen also has, far and away, the worst op in the history of anime. Perhaps I should have heeded the song's call to "Put your grasses on/Nothing will be wong?"

Lest anyone think this is just a one-off instance of a bad anime song, the show's ending theme is almost as bad.

I like the Berserk Opening. :P Reminds me of some indie song I'd hear on the radio when I was young. That Death Note opening just makes my ears bleed, and the visuals are an insult to my eyes.

And the ending theme of Berserk's is great stuff. Don't you dare knock that!

Still, nothing compares to Forces.

Also, I'm surprised to meet someone else here who is familiar with Kimagure Orange Road and Maison Ikkoku! I love those shows!

Agree to disagree. :P

Forces is great, I will admit. I can't, for the life of me, understand why that wasn't the show's opening theme.

Both are great. Although I will say that, as good as the Maison Ikkoku anime is, it doesn't begin to compare to the perfection of the manga. The MI manga is simply my favorite story ever. It's a perfect melding of romantic comedy, coming-of-age story, social drama, and slapstick. It has a well-defined beginning, middle, and end, and the way the primary love interests relate to one-another is touching and very human. It's simply the best thing Takahashi has ever penned, even if Urusei Yatsura was her breakout hit. The closest she has ever come to replicating that funny but still down-to-earth style is in her short stories (well, manga, but short manga). I believe they were collected under the title "Rumiko Takahashi Anthology." There's also a very nice anime adaptation of this collection.

Kimagure Orange Road is a very cute series, and thankfully doesn't let the supernatural stuff overwhelm the more interesting love story. As entertaining as the series is, though, I do have to say, I Want to Return to That Day is probably the single best anime movie I've ever seen, and the perfect conclusion to the story. Although admittedly it is pretty rough to watch sometimes.

I tend to prefer older anime, so I'm much more likely to have seen something from the last few decades than I am more recently released shows.

Ever seen the English dub of the show? Here's a fun fact. The english dub replaced "Ai no Senshi" with a song called "She's Got the Power" by a fellow named Stan Bush. Have you ever seen The Transformer: The Movie? It's the animated one from the 80s with Orson Welles voicing Unicron. Anyway, Stan Bush was also behind the rock song "The Touch" from that movie.

As much as I poopoo Sailor Moon's horrendous english dubbing, that version had some surprisingly awesome songs. I still maintain that Carry On was a WAY better song for that final battle in season one than the version of Moonlight Densetsu that played in the original Japanese version of the scene.

Another instance where I liked both songs that played in the Japanese and English versions of a Sailor Moon scene, respectively, was the climax of Sailor Moon R. The original Japanese version of the scene had the still quite awesome "Moon Revenge", while the English version opted for a song called "The Power of Love."
