dogs are a pack animal, and respond to pack behaviour, regardless of whether if it`s a pet or not.
if you`ve ever watched any documentary on any wild animals, it`s always apparent that the lead male will use force when necessary to keep his pack or herd under controll.
dogs will respond to what ever stimulus you decide to use for training on certain behaviour patterns. just as long as they understand where they fit in their family/pack.
obviously, excessive force is never necessary. but a light smack should discourage a dog`s bad behaviour, especially at an early age.
for those who`ve never owned a pet, do some research. especially on wild animals, like what i`ve mentioned above. for example, lead males in a pack of hyena`s are far more vicious towards their pack, than what some humans are with their pets.
