Personally, I'd like a democracy-type town where you could add villagers and have elections and things. Also, the Gamepad could be used in a way to add tiles to the ground instead of having to individually put tiles. Local multiplayer should also be added and you should be able to start a shop at Main Street.
It would be really nice if they gonna add some way to connect to New Leaf. And just like you suggested, i like the idea of placing things with the gamepad as well.
I'd like an Animal Crossing game where you get to choose and customize the shops that appear in town. You could run one if you liked, or maybe be a normal villager. The mayor thing would return as well
I will update this when Half Life 3 arrives. [Started 17/11/2015]
I'd like a much wider variety of conversations. IDK, in New Leaf my neighbors would often repeat themselves, even say the exact same things if they're the same type of neighbor.
Meanwhile in every other AC game(I've played them all) it feels as if they're still saying new things I've never heard them say before.
Also give me the power of collecting taxes from all the villagers.
Though not interested in Animal Crossing particularly, @McRokert's idea of connecting to New Leaf in some way would be really cool. I remember back in the GC days when lots of great games had connectivity like Toadstool Tour -> Advance Tour, Colosseum/XD -> RSE, SA2B -> Advance series, etc. I really like that concept and in the most recent generation (Wii U/3DS) that has only happened 4 times: MH3U Wii U -> MH3U 3DS, SLW Wii U -> SLW 3DS, Rise of Lyric -> Shattered Crystal, SSB Wii U -> SSB 3DS with the 3rd pair being rather invasive (i.e. need 3DS version to get more than 100 rings)
I would like to see a return of the NES games (like the original AC on Gamecube had).
If not that, then there should be an arcade building on Main Street that acts as a hub to my Virtual Console titles where I can go there and play my VC games within the actual AC game.
Also, it would be cool to implement the eShop into the game where I can go there and download new VC titles (instead of having to save the game and exit the software and boot up the eshop).
Oh, and the ability for the game to access the internet to get the local weather conditions for my zip code or locale and have those same conditions exist in the game (This is a feature that could be turned off or on each time to load your game).
I'd like a Paradise vacation on an island where you can explore volcanoes and jungles and outer space. In short, better exploration options. You could get rare items from such locations, rare bugs and weird furniture.
God first.

Maybe make the arcade idea work with amiibo. As in, there would be an arcade, where you scan an amiibo and you can play the game

That would actually be a pretty cool workaround tho! I want that now!
If there is an Animal Crossing Wii U, I wonder if it will be like Smash where there's exclusive stuff on each version, like the Island only being on the 3DS and the Wii U having other exclusives.

I like the idea of a bigger AC world to explore! This is a really cool idea.
Heck, lots of good ideas being mentioned here in this thread!
Oh, I meant to also say.....it would be neat to have a Wii U Animal Crossing game that allowed cross-save features to a 3ds version. Granted, i don't want (as someone mentioned above) a Wii U version of New Leaf. But it would still be cool to have a 3ds companion AC to go along with the Wii U, that way i could keep doing stuff when i'm on the go...and when i get back home, have it upload my AC Wii U game. (I'm thinking kind of what they did for MH3U for 3ds and Wii U).
^ a free download code for this possible 3ds companion game would be awesome with the purchase of AC for Wii U....
I'd love for there to be an entire line of Animal Crossing amiibos! Although I'm not sure what they'd do. But also, you should be able to use the Smash Bros. amiibos to unlock access to furniture based on the character/series.
Maybe Nintendo could even do some collaborating this time around like with how Monster Hunter 4 has DLC based on so many other properties from other companies (ie: Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Animal Crossing, Mega Man, Sonic, Taiko no tatsujin, One Piece, Fire Emblem, etc.)
So like maybe scanning a Mega Man or Sonic amiibo will give me a nice hat based on their head. Maybe even scanning Pac-Man would unlock a Pac-Man arcade cabinet furniture!
Ah, amiibo functionality. Maybe if there was an entertainment/derby(sort of) in town where using amiibo you the features of THAT AMIIBO. I don't think I'm clear when I'm saying it like this, so I'll brainstorm a little more and edit this post.
God first.
