This feels like it could be exploited way too easily. Think about it, one could arrive at some crazies' doorstep, who'd figure out how to hack into it or make an exact replica, plant a bomb on it, and send it off somewhere. Not to mention the potential overall privacy intrusion.
What we're willing to allow for our ever-increasing impatience...
I think it's safe to say they have a GPS and a camera (because that's how drones work) so they'll just send the cops their way before they can do anything. I'm more worried about birds and trees getting in the way than people, honestly.
Also, how could this possibly intrude on your pricacy anymore than what the government has already been doing for years?
My favorite was Colin Cowherd this morning was talking about it, and he was (sarcastically) worried about Amazon Drones because he had "seen the Terminator" and know how these things go, haha!
@CanisWolfred Actually I think the drone would be in more trouble from the birds where I'm at. There's at least two pairs of hawks (separate species) that regularly patrol my backyard. One strike from those guys and bye-bye drone.

yeah drones are the future! imagine having a special drone delivery box to receive everything! * ¬ *
next year in college there'll be a drone competition! we'll all use the drone's cameras to read QR codes and solve "programming puzzles"
and for you conspiracy crazydudes, they only can be(remotely) hacked if connected to the internet and I don't think GPS is internet otherwise someone would have to catch the drones to be able to hack directly in the machine(but the assassin Drone replicas might really happen, nah too much cost only a millionaire killer would use an assassin Drone, at least in large scale)
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

...we're not talking about toy helicopters here. These drones are a bit biggers than a hawk, made of metal, and surrounded by fast-moving propellers. The bird would probably be diced if it got too close.

Imagine that walking down the street and bird guts come falling down from the sky on top of people the media would go crazy.
This seems like a great idea, but what about those random jerks that are going to shoot the drones down just for "fun". It's definitely going to happen and they're going to have to figure out something to prevent that from happening before they release this to the public.
I think there are already laws in place for that, which is about the most they can do...

I'm not talking about regular hawks either. The birds I see are a little off from the norm.
Well okay not really, but it's be awesome.

Felony charges for mail tampering and/or a jail sentence for felony destruction of property (because those things are easily gonna be more than expensive enough to get you past a misdemeanor). that'll be enough to ward off the average joe, and all that's left at that point is the kind of people who'd normally steal your package out of your mailbox or off your doorstep — there's no stopping those jerks no matter what, lol.

Pretty sure because its a drone, they will be able to easily tell who shot or messed with the drone. yay for technology. lol

Keep it PG-13-ish.
People mention birds and people shooting them down as if Amazon has never thought of this. lol
I'm almost positive this multi billion dollar company has already discovered all the possible issues during their R&D. I find it hard to believe they're going to start this up without addressing the most obvious of potential issues, especially given the lengthy multi year development period.
If they can fly high enough... like, high enough to be little more than specks to the naked eye (and much higher than birds could fly or tress could grow), I think they'd avoid those issues...
They already know exactly how many of their current customers they could deliver to. They're as much of a technology company as they are a shipping company, so I imagine this was the very first thing they calculated.
Think you guys are underestimating Amazon here. Especially given how many people on the internet are questioning whether or not Amazon knows of the existence of birds. lol
