I do not consider them equals, I find the Xbox 360 inferior to the PS3 and I do not find that the Wii holds up well compared to either (but many top-notch exclusives make it worth owning).

When I look at a game console, I don't enjoy it because of it's looks and horsepower, I judge it on excusive titles. While the Wii does have a stunning lineup of Nintendo-made games (Super Mario Galaxy, New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption among others) and many solid third party titles (Castle of Shikigami 3, Phantom Brave: We Meet Again and MadWorld to name a few), they ultimately don't have the staying power of many games on the PS3 and 360, and my next point shows why I have such a heavy distaste for the 360.

There are so few exclusives. I'm not just being close-minded here, there just aren't many. I do own a couple 360-exclusive titles (Crackdown and Dead Rising amongst others), but there just isn't a large lineup of exclusives. Also, when you look at the usual lineup spouted from any 360 fanboy's mouth; "Halo 3, Gears of War, Mass Effect, Left 4 Dead." you may note that only one of those games is exclusive to the 360. The other three are available on PC. Not to mention some ridiculous pricing for the 360 and it's essential products (300$ for the Elite console, 80$ for a wireless adapter, 60$ a year for Live). And you still don't have a reliable console. It has been proven time and time again to damage games and have a high failure rate.

I think all three consoles have something to offer and each have their own positives and negatives. As far as personal preferences go, I tend to enjoy the Xbox 360 the most, mainly due to the Japanese RPGs and Xbox Live Arcade selections (not to mention the import shmups). I also think the online service is second to none. That being said, the Wii and PS3 have a lot to offer and Sony has done a great job of pulling the PS3 into contention again, although they still have a long way to go. It's all about opinion, for the most part.

Plain old gamer :)

I agree with that, though mist of the RPGs are being thrown onto the PS3 at this point. I`m still crossing my fingers for Castle Crashers to appear on PSN, and again, I must agree about the SHMUPs. I've wasted many hours playing Mushihimesama Futari Ver. 1.5 and Death Smiles. 8D

So I guess I'll reiterate that I really hate the North American 360, after all, it does have tons of quality import-only titles (Dream C Club <3 <3 <3).

I can't really say that the three consoles are equal (The 360 has the most FPSs, fighters, and sports games but those are almost the only genres on the console, the PS3 has the prettiest graphics but there are less than 25 exclusive games that make the PS3 a must-own, and the Wii has amazing exclusives and Nintendo but the graphics and online aren't close to the other three consoles.), but they all bring unique experiences to the table. It's more or less a matter of preference to what console is superior than the others.

No, your not. But you are in the minority.

They aren't equal, but what would be the point of having three different consoloes if they were? Each one of them will have at least one thing that the others don't that will appeal to a certain person and really, that's a good thing. Think of movies what if every movie was a romantic comedy or action movie, they might do well with the people that enjoy those types of movies but what about the people that like horror. Each console is like a different genre of movie, they try to have the basics to appeal to the masses but they also have their own spin to appeal to a certain niche in the public.

I have a Wii (obviously) and a 360. The reason I have a 360 as opposed to a PS3 is simply that the 360 came out first, I have a standard definiton tv (I had a stroke that affected my field of vision a bit so I can't tell the difference between HD and SD) so blu-ray wasn't a selling point to me or I would've waited and got a PS3. However, I do feel that the 360 exclusives, while not as plentiful as the PS3 exclusives, are mostly based on new or newer IPs which makes them better (in my opinion) than the 5th or 6th rehash of Gran Turismo, the 3rd God of War or things of that nature. That's not to say I think those are bad games, it's just that they don't wow me like they did four or five years ago (Gran Turismo on the PS1 was amazing for what they did with a 32 bit system. The newer ones aren't as amazing because every system has racing games that look as good.) .

The Wii (since really that's what most of us come here for) is a completely different animal. Not that it is better or worse than the other two systems, but a completely different ideology. I had a Wii when they first came out and played Zelda, Wii Sports Bowling, Zelda, WIi Sports Bowling and Zelda. I was getting bored with the system so I sold it. It didn't hurt that I got a lot more than I paid for it, but I would've sold it at cost none-the-less. The identity of the system wasn't there yet. It wasn't until more games started coming out that you could really see that the Wii was made for playing videogames the way we used to but in the 21st century. Once they announced Punch Out!! and New Super Mario Bros. I knew I had to have one, so I got one for Christmas. Along with either a PS3 or 360 (you can't go wrong with either one they are so similar) a Wii completes what people my age used to dream of back in the 80's, a fully realized home arcade that allows us to play people around the world or around our coffee table.

Do I think the systems are equal? No. Am I glad they aren't equal? No. Do I feel that this is the greatest time in history for gamers? You're damn right I do.

I am the one you despise. I am he who says what you really deep down know but are affraid to admit. I am the Anti-Fanboy, the crusader of truth in a world built on your lies.

Comparisons are so boring, super duper styley. yawns

When I'm preparing toast in the morning, I take my pick from Lemon Curd, Jam or Marmalade to spread upon said toast. They all have the same function, but different flavours, colours and textures. Does that mean one is better than the other? yawns

Lemon Curd in my opinion is way better than Jam or Marmalade. But others would disagree. yawns

lemon curd = Wii, btw

Isn't the Wii more like Marmite Machu, you either love it or hate it

Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot the uselessly complicated fighters and the overpopulated sports games that are identical, only differencing in the names on the box.

Seriously though, I'll change it. I was kinda in a sort of pseudo rant mode at the time.

You are a fan of the Wii, yet you say that all the sports game on the 360 are the same. Open your eyes, dude.

I love Marmite, unless there's too much of it. I love motion control, unless there's too much of it.

Hmmm, I see what you mean Stevie.

Every console has good games same as every console has bad games. Its all just a matter of taste and to a lesser extent budget and time contraints. I have a Wii,DS and 360 and I like them all. If I had to choose one it would be the DS simply because it has such a huge library of games. Those saying that the 360 is unreliable this is no longer the case.Newer models are far more reliable and Microsoft offered a very good warranty for those with the older models.Sure the thing shouldn't have been released as it was but at least they tried to rectify it. Anyway I won't get into a debate about this as our good friend Machu has already stated this kinda thing tends to be very boring.
On a side note I hate Marmite but love the Wii ,weird huh?

What's this bit for again?

They're all equal but different. Nintendo fans who buy a Wii get as much of a buzz out of seeing a new Zelda or Mario as Sony fans who buy a PS3 get out of seeing a new CoD:MW or Little Big Planet.

no, you're not. it drives me nuts that PS360 gets dubbed "next-gen", while Wii and PS2 are "current-gen". explain to me how that makes sense. the PS2's generation was the PS2, the Xbox, and the GC! when the GC died, the Wii came out, thus makin it the subsequent generation Ninty console. and the PS2 can't live through two generations. it's still alive, sure, but it's LAST-gen. and how exactly can you OWN something that's a part of the coming generation. if it's "next-gen" it wouldn't be out yet! as soon as the Xbox360 was released, it became the CURRENT-GEN, and the Xbox, PS2, and GC became LAST-GEN. When the PS3 and Wii were released, they were automatically a part of the CURRENT-GEN. right now, the PS4, the Xbox720, and the Wii2 (for lack of better names) are the NEXT-GEN. but as soon as they are released, they become CURRENT-GEN. it just makes sense. it seems to me like people need to get in their dictionary, and findd out what current, next, and last mean.

@bro2dragons I completely agree with you.
No, I don't really consider them equals. If I want to play a really "hardcore" [I hate it when people use that word] FPS, I'll probably play my Xbox. For almost anything else, I'll play the wii.
BTW I can't believe that SONY is making a "SonyI"-a "wand" that has motion controls and buttons And then they said, "almost everyone thinks that motion controls automatically mean a casual game, but we want to try and bring motion controls to a real gamer's world."
How narrow-minded is that?

Just let it happen.

How could three things that each differ from in each other in numerous ways possibly be equal?
