I know Wii games dont have achievements but the other two big systems PS3 and Xbox 360 do. I was wondering how many of you guys actually play a game untill you get all the achievements even after you have finished the games story line.

Personally I dont care about achievements if I happened to get it cool if not I dont rip my hair out cause I dont get it. To me it just seems like an ego boost thats all.

So what are your guys thoughts on achievements? Do you guys try and get them all??

I dont have a 360 or PS3 but yes I try to get them all for Wii and DS even though they arnt called achievement i still call it that

Examples are all Chibi-Robo Stickers and All SSB Trophies or even all Karts, characters, in Mario Kart, or Paint Jobs in the Excites

No. I will look at the achievements list and if they seem easy enough, I will attempt them at least but I won't spend loads of time just trying to get every achievement in a game, especially when I could be enjoying other games in that time

For me, I like to play through the game first, then try to get everything. Right now, I'm doing this for Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!

I'm back (for the moment)!

MetalMario

Yeah. I don't try to get them at first, but I always try to get at least alot of them. If I really like a game I'll try to get them all.

Oh and Metroid Prime 3 I should try to get all those "ACHIEVEMENTS" as soon as I fix it (The Disc has an error and is CORRUPTED)

I only attempt to get achievements if some of them come with some in-game rewards (like Team Fortress 2). Other than that I really don't consider them for anything.

This.

The Game.

Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.

This.
I've also found that achievements will sometime encourage me to play (or rather, re-play) a game more (like when there's cheevos for collecting items or something) when i might not otherwise be as motivated if there wasn't a "reward" for doing so (i usually couldn't care less about unlocking things like concept art or whatever). But i'm far less obsessive about them than i used to be in the beginning, especially if a game has annoying multiplayer cheevos as i'm much more of a single-player gamer.

She-Ra is awesome. If you believe otherwise, you are clearly wrong.

No, because like none of my games have achievements really.

Depends on the game, if I'm really in to the game I will try to beat/unlock everything like New Super Mario Bros and Resident Evil 4, and then other games I will just beat the main game once and leave it at that.

Ok what I am talking about is the little achievements that you get for doing certain things in games like killing 20 enemies with out reloading and stuff like that. Meaningless stuff that really doesnt have anything to do with the story line or gameplay. I dont consider unlocking everything as an achievement, since I consider that part of the game cause I do that too.

Sorry for the confusion.

Eh, I only really bother getting achievements after I've beaten a game and have yet to buy a new game yet. It's basically just to tide me over. xD

Nope. Massive waste of time and really not a true reflection of skill anyway since 99% of the people with decent collections sit there reading a FAQ and copying everything they read, then like to masquerade as though they're some type of gaming deity. I like the idea in theory, and I enjoy seeing them pop up when I randomly earn them, but it's just turned into another way for the self-proclaimed gaming elite to waste even more time achieving tasks they aren't having fun performing towards the end of impressing people they don't know or won't ever meet in real life.

Fun.

Sorry to double-post, but I quite literally almost threw up when I read this. They've achievements. Cheevos is awful. Please...don't ever use that term again. Shortening words alone does not a catchy term make.

In the few games I've played that have had achievements...no.

I'm a pretty impatient gamer and don't want to waste my time with specific achievements when I could be enjoying brand-new experiences on a different game. Theoretically, I MIGHT go for all the achievements on a game I really liked. Before Super Mario Galaxy, I had never bothered to get all the stars in a Mario game, but SMG just made me want to keep going until I had them all. If a game were as good or better than SMG and had achievements, I might go for them.
