Huh?! Point me to this gaggle of ladies who won't mind me gaming Trin. ty.

Anyway, I just thought of a really useful equation involving casual and hardcore activities. I shan't share it.

If you lock yourself away in a room, and game none-stop for 2 days, any human, male or female who wanted to spend any sort of time with you would mind. As I said though, it's 2010, the Playstation has happened, the Wii has happened.

Gaming these days is for everyone, it's not something you have to go and do alone - after all, who doesn't game these days? Even the Amish kids probably get a little capture-the-flag time.

Gaming is for everyone. Just don't play Super Zombie Ninja Killers 17 all the time. After all, why would a woman object to a man having some sort of leisure time? Do women post on forums about how hard it is to find a man who doesn't mind them watching soap operas on TV?

It's not the hoby that's the problem, it's the way you indulge in it. Indulge in any hoby to anti-social levels, and you'll have problems, and that goes for gaming, buying shoes, watching TV, or collecting stamps.

Gaming is for everyone, as I said...

See if you can persuade your girlfriend to have a play around with your Wiimote.

ok Trin, no need to talk to me like I'm an eejut.

I'm not talking about two days solid gaming, that's what mates are for. I'm talking about playing Metroid till 2 in the morning accidentally and someone taking it personally when you don't join them in bed. I'm talking about making sacrifices for someone else and not resenting them for cutting into 'my' time.

yeah, I'm selfish, and have issues, lol

Rawr!

Trin

Yeah, I'm not really talking to you, I'm talking to the younger peeps on the forums... or the '1994 gang' as I will now call them.

I know you know the score. Chill.

I'm chilled dude. And yeah, I did kinda hijack the thread with my woes.

Just because they are the type who aren't into videogames doesn't mean that they won't be into it forever.

Try getting them into videogames. Find a genre that they'll like. You can enjoy your games and spend quality time with them that way.

Hey what's wrong with 1994? That was a good year!

Yeah I'm pretty sure this is how most girls are.

I have Call of Duty time and she has her Kindle time and if either of us just did that all day the other would be upset.

I think people are making it harder than it has to be to find a nice balance.

Man I wish my ex would have been this way. The thing is she wanted me to spend 0 time with video games. She got mad when I spent half an hour even, but yet she wanted me to talk to her when she was beading or crocheting (don't know if thats how its spelled.) She did not want to get into my video games though. I didn't exactly choose games over her, but it seemed like if I didn't keep her in mind 24/7, then there was a problem.

I'm sure it was a fine year, but in the video game world, it's about where the trend away from young males being the only peeps who game started, as the Playstation started to draw in a more adult audience.

Post-1994 gaming started to become socially acceptable, if you like.

Didn't seem to reach as far as the Nintendo Life crowd, though... who still consider gaming to be something you do alone, in the dark, at the expense of all humanity.

Also, another little life tip for you young peeps - women aren't always right. I know it's a shock, but it's actually true. If you find a woman who has contempt for all your hobbies, yet insists on carrying on with hers... show her the door. Unless she is hot. Then sneak behind her back to game.

At the end of the day, young 'uns, it's about being mature, honest, understanding, but above all - sneaky.

I'm not as young as you may think. Lol I did show her the door. One thing she used to say too that really got on my nerves is that I'm too old for gaming. I think once I'm in the retirement home I will still be gaming, and probably more so there as there isn't as much to do and I'm not a Bingo kinda guy.

Apparently there is an "in-between" age that you may fit into or maybe it's just that marriage transcends any age-related criteria: the woman is ALWAYS right. hee hee

My fiance hates video games for the most part. Except Bust-A-Move, which I think is the only reason she tolerates my gaming. Whenever she starts to get upset about me playing a game, I just switch on the bubble crack and she can't help herself. I let her win most of the time (yeah right) to keep her interested. So far it is working. I wish they would port Super-Bust-A-Move 2! to the Wii. Then I would have her locked in to this whole gaming thing.

Side note: Here are some words of wisdom handed down to me by my Grandfather (RIP).

"All you need to know how to say are two words kid. Yes and Dear."

Oh gramps, if you only knew how much trouble those two little words have kept me out of. Women don't always have to be right, but it works best if they always think they are.

What's funny is that we turn that right back around at men every day. With both genders playing the same overall game, who's to say who's actually right in the end, and/or who really believes it? :3

That said, sometimes it's just more kind to smile and nod. Being right all the time is a very lonely pedestal to stand on within a relationship, and it tends to start more fights than it ends, even if you really are right.

We turn that turn-around right back around at women everyday. And it's even more funny.

This is true, but I think, in general, women have more of a need to think they are right. And they certainly have less of a need to make sense while trying to show they are right.

Another way to avoid trouble is by pretending your listening when she is gossip talking about her co workers and other things you really could care less about.

@theblackdragon Agreed. I mostly just use this tactic for the un-winnable arguments that arise from time to time. If it's going nowhere, I break out the "Yes dear" or "You're right" or "Ya know what, I am starting to see things your way now." Never to just patronize, but to move our lives along on a more harmonious path. I just need to remember to take notes on the stuff I promise to do/never do again.
