I don't think Sony ever copied Nintendo directly as they were just following market trends ... until I saw Playstation All Stars, that's just a rip-off.

Yo fanboys the kinect and eye toy are only similar in the the look of the device. The specs and what they do are different.

Same goes for wii and move

and the eye toy was launched in 2003 so it's more likely that NINTENDO copied sony with the motion controls.

Have you heard about the Power Glove?

Nintendo didn't make the Power Glove. It was a Mattel product.

What about the Light Gun or Super Scope?

surely those were in arcades before the NES?

Actually, Sharp created the optoelectronic technology (guns that shoot invisible beams at targets), and worked with Nintendo to release toy guns based on this. Later, Nintendo exapnded on the tech and created arcade shooting machines (the first one called Sheriff) that played FMVs depending on what the player shot.

In a fighting game particularly, it may look very similar as a system, but the difference comes through in the character move sets.

Oh, so it doesn't play differently, the characters are just different. I'm pretty sure that's not the case with other genres. I'm pretty sure the games played differently.

I'm not sure if you're just bad at sarcasm or what, but that isn't what I said. Similar and Exact are different words. King of Fighters is similar to Street Fighter. It's not exactly the same. But while the systems are similar, the characters are much more distinct.

And you're pretty wrong in regards to other genres. How many sports games are wildly different? How many first-person shooters? Beat-em up's, shoot-em ups? Fighting games was just one example because it's the genre I'm most familiar with.

Sony's game does play differently, and it's obvious to anyone who watched the trailer or read the brief description. The differences between it and Smash are actually more significant than the differences between a lot of traditional tournament fighters, and this is before we even learn most of the characters.

All I'm saying is, wait and see more of the game before deciding it's an exact copy. The character move sets make up the majority of the content in a fighting game.

Come on, friends,

All of that should be taken with a grain of salt, as always of course. But what I find most interesting, and kind of funny, is how the Playstation Move logo looks very alike the Nintendo Revolution logo. That's just weird. (it's in the corner of the pic)

Derp. I completely misunderstood what you meant. And yoy're right. I think I'm just a bit bitter that the concepts of the two games are exactly the same, albiet with gameplay differences. But whatever. Sorry to cause trouble.

Then why do you play vidogames. Couldn't you describe most genres of games that way.

It seems your just not a fan of Sony and leetting your nintendo bias get the best of you.

Even when Sony rarely copies Nintendo, they improve on Lametendo's fail in every way. Playstation All-Stars is going to be so much better than that cr*ppy Brawl.

Bottom line? Everyone has "stolen" from everyone, Nintendo included.

@Sony
Because, I'm fine with most normal concepts being used multiple times, but part of the reason I really liked SSB was that it was the only one with the concept if a crossover brawler using that company's franchises. Yet, this is the exact same concept. Im not angry, but I just wish they had went another route. Making this will cause divisions between some people, lowering sales for both games, like Battlefield and CoD, or GTA and Saints Row. If Sony wants to make this, fine, they make good games so I'm sure it'll be good. But still...

Still what that's how games get better. Call of Duty has been the big boy for a few years now and EA stepped it up with medal of honor and Battlefield 3. Competition breeds innovation.

I suppose so, but Sakurai doesn't need competition to innovate. He already said he was going to take a different route with Smash 4.
But I guess you're right. Best just to watch and see how it works out.

The DS and Wii were both innovative. Not necessarily in technology, but in implementation. I'm not sure about you but I had never played a touch-based game before 2005 when the DS was released. Certainly not the way the touch screen was used for nearly everything. I had never played games like Zelda with motion controls before the Wii was released in 2006. The technology may have existed prior, but it had never been used in such ways. Innovation.

I completely agree. Alot of people make the mistake of defending other companies saying that "Well that technology was never new..."
But they don't see how it made it appealing to the masses, and therefore a mainstay in the world of consumer technology. Making it an exciting product and taking imaginative approaches to what they can do in the entertainment industry.

Which is why I love Nintendo ^.^

Guys guys guys oh my god I got this exclusive scoop that PROVES Sony are stealing ideas from Nintendo, and they have been doing for years, seriously this'll blow your minds.

Back in 1889, Nintendo had the innovative idea of producing things and exchanging them for money in order to gain more money than they had originally. I mean, there'd been a handful of small companies that did it previously but no-one really made it into a thing like Nintendo did. In 1946, some 57 years after Nintendo's idea, Sony just so happened to do the same thing! Seriously it's true, Sony have been COPYING Nintendo for over sixty years! Oh my god!
