I thought it would make for an interesting experiment if we made a list of things Sony has done similar to Nintendo together in this forum.
This is not a Sony bashing thread. I enjoy of the line of Playstation products, I own all 3 of their consoles & a PSP. I simply thought it would be interesting to make a simple list with no malicious intent.
This thread is not about whether Nintendo created something or not. Nintendo may not have created motion controls, touch screens etc, but they popularized it with mainstream gaming. This is about things Nintendo has made/done which were later followed by Sony making/doing something similar to what Nintendo had made/done. It is highly probable that Sony didn't borrow an idea from Nintendo, and it was mere coincidence that they released similar products after Nintendo released there's. Once again this is not about villainizing Sony. Sony has had plenty of original ideas that have made major contributions to video-games as a whole
This is simply a list of things that Nintendo released to the market before Sony did. I'd like for us to stay mature about this, and not have this snowball into a flame war.
Here's the first round of things that I can think of, please add your suggestions in the comments to help populate this list.
PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale - Smash Bros PlayStation Move - Wii Remote Playstation Vita Game Heaven - Nintendo Direct Rumble Pak - DualShock
EDIT: I removed the word "copy" because it was misleading and holds a negative connotation. Let's keep this civil and prove that the Nintendo Life Community can be mature. Thanks for your cooperation.
From reading the opening, I know you're not trying to bash Sony, but for some reason I feel like this forum is going to be locked (either because this forum already exists somewhere, just forgotten. Or because the mods will worry about a flame war starting up, because forums like these attract them).
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
Sony did not "copy" Move from the Wii Remote. Sony filed a patent for a motion controller in 2004, before Revolution was unveiled. Here's a tech demo running on the PS2 in 2004 or 2005:
I understand the OP's intentions but we've been down this road before and it always deteriorates into Sony-bashing. Let's try to be mature this time, eh?
If this thread already exist then I'm sorry for doing a repost. I did a search but couldn't find anything. I think we can be mature about this, It's just a simple comparison list. Here's another bullet point.
Companies copy each other, that's the way it is. All this thread is gonna lead to is fanboy bashing. A more interesting thread in my opinion would be the reversed subject of people contributing with stuff Nintendo have copied from other companies.
The release of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is just another bullet point on the list of things Sony has borrowed inspiration from Nintendo. However I can't find said list so I thought it would make for an interesting experiment if we made a list of things Sony has copied from Nintendo together in this forum.
Copied or inspired? Make up your mind please.

So you made a topic on a Nintendo forum outing Sony for 'copying' Nintendo. Yep, no bashing here.

Okay...

Woah, settle down. You mean to say that a company is making a product that is similar to another product? Hold on, I need to sit down.

'Hey Nikola Telsa. Nintendo is making a controller that looks like a remote. THEY ARE COPYING YOU!!'
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
Maybe you should rename the thread title to something in the likes of 'things Sony have done similar to Nintendo' instead of copy OP. I can see that bringing up a more serious discussion. People seem to react very negatively to the word 'copy'.
Just because I feel like being balanced: Sony did not "copy" Move from the Wii Remote. Sony filed a patent for a motion controller in 2004, before Revolution was unveiled. Here's a tech demo running on the PS2 in 2004 or 2005: Let's try to be mature this time, eh?
Excellent point, It takes years before most software and hardware is even shown to the public. I think many situations of Sony "copying" Nintendo are mere coincidence. Within the realm of videogames it's very common for two different people to have the same idea, and even if it's not a coincidence seeking inspiration from your competition is a valid strategy. If Sony released something within a year after Nintendo it's most likely a coincidence that Nintendo released there's first.

So the Macbook Air is a copy of IBM products, because IBM invented the first laptop (may or may not be true, I think my point is obvious here)? Being second to market is not copying. Copying is using the exact same technology or design of a competitor. Even the Move is not a copy on either front.

You are absolutely right about that. Thread renamed, and the word copy has been removed completely from the opening post.

I think that would make for an interesting thread as well.

I apologize for using the word copy it was misleading.

LOL and every company copied SegaCD who in turn copied TurbografxCD for having a (you guessed it) CD drive based console complete with controllers and plugs into da TV and stuff, ya dig, word up.
And that is all folks, this ends the discussion join us next week for things 'Commodore copied from ZX spectrum' which will be followed by 'why all arcade machines look identical' did they copy each other ha ha
