I did, too. :/ Well, I'm personally excited about that Fan-Game I will not mention and I'm still hoping for a Mother 3 release on VC. If that happens, I'll be happy.
Just keep in mind that even in the case that it's fake, it still won't mean that it's impossible for anything Mother/Earthbound related to be released in future America.
