For the record RE: this thread's title — the States didn't file the petitions. Some morons "on behalf" of said states did. HUGE difference.

Misleading title is very misleading

Stupid people are just being stupid. Nothing to see here

Politics being politics
Edit: To quote the article:

"Critics describe the effort as a bit of an overreaction. “Anyone who wants their state to secede from the union is someone whose brain has already seceded from their body,” said John Andrews, director of the conservative Centennial Institute at Colorado Christian University."

Please, tell me more Mr. Andrews! Your words are truly wisdom

That opinion is the broad brush sweep-away of the day. Congrats. Nuff said.

I fully agree. All presidents and politicians make mistakes and many will lie. My issue is that some sources will ignore these shortcomings at times, depending on the president. If another president had made some of these same mistakes, he would have been ridiculed by the media. However, I can scarce recall hearing any of these things on the news when Obama did them. Strange, isn't it?

Ah yes, the post election butthurt. As a hardcore liberal I find this funny. If we survived some other presidents that were bad we will survive Obama. I really like how people expect Obama to be like Superman and just magically solve everything. He is certainly not perfect, open to criticism like all the 43 presidents, but I see him as a good president. I am not going to really get into this but as a political junkie, I know that government is slow and not everyone agrees with you. I am also going to put this in here, The Republican Party really needs to take a good look at itself. It has barely evolved since the Southern Strategy of 1968 and whether they want to accept it or not, that's a problem.

EDIT: This goes to my fellow liberals who complain about how the government in America is hopeless and blah blah blah. Take a look at US History. All the basic problems we have now have been there for a long time. We have progressed despite it. Just because marijuana and LSD isn't going to be legalized in two years doesn't mean our political system is hopeless. Heck, I agree with that but I am still practical. Carry on.

Seriously, I don't like Obama, but we had 2 poor choices, so we chose one. If these states are gonna cry over that, so be it. Live your life. I doubt he's inadequate to the point where your life stops.

I'm not sure I understand exactly what you are saying. Are you saying that if the states or individual people that have a problem with the way things are going, should just cry and deal with it?

I'm not sure why everyone is saying that this should be locked. As long as people are being civil about the discussion, I see no reason why the thread can't stay open. If you don't like the topic of the thread, you can simply ignore it and move along.

I'm sorry, but I don't see how Obama can be seen as a "good president".
For starters, he has increased the national deficit and spending considerably (and it's not all George Bush's fault, take a look.
Obama lied about the nature of the US Embassy attack in Benghazi.
He also threw our ally Israel under the bus.
I don't mean to be rude or abrasive, but these are just my thoughts.

As others have stated, these were petitions by idiots whom said they were "representing" the states, not the states themselves.

Anyways, crap like this happens more often than you think, but it's completely irrelevant, and just brought up so certain sites can get hits (knowing people would more likely click on this type of "news" after an election).

This perfectly describes this thread and the people that filed the laughable petitions.

I live overseas and I don't know anything really about US politics, but why does everyone hate Obama? I don't like or hate him because I know nothing of the state or nature of US politics, but anyone help enlighten me why some people think that its worth seceding the united states? I know our country has never had a perfect relationship with America, but I don't want to see the US split personally. I would think it would a great shame if ours did, we are so tiny compared to the rest of the world and yet nobody outside our country really talks about the state of our government.... (sorry I don't want to post where I live for personel reasons, but if you know I don't suggest you shout it out).

@The_Fox What makes the comments laughable?

I actually said the people that filed the petitions were laughable but anyone taking them seriously would fall in there also. These petitioners are nothing but crybabies that didn't get their way.

@RetroGBHippie92 - I believe I provided some reasons why I don't support Obama. While I don't believe this is grounds to secede, I am not pleased with the direction our country is turning.
