Seriously, nothing will come of this. Laugh at the jackasses who signed this, then go back to your lives.
If they publicly announce their shame after this crap is voided, laugh at them twice.

Hopefully I hope it goes through that way we can bet America back to its glory. We cant do that now in the current state its in.

Never going to happen, I think we'll have the same 50 states for a long time. The US will not have any secessions or state joins in our lifetime.

@SRArter Puerto Rico just voted to become a state. They have a good possibility of becoming a state..

Actually Puerto Rico voted in favor of changing their territorial status to becoming the 51st state back on the 6th, but like everything else it was over looked in the wake of the presidential election.

Well if America keeps going the route its going with a leader that doesnt care about anyone but himself sooner or later people get fed up. Look through out history thats how one empire falls and another rises and sadly America is going that way.

Seriously, I don't like Obama, but we had 2 poor choices, so we chose one. If these states are gonna cry over that, so be it. Live your life. I doubt he's inadequate to the point where your life stops. Compare that to Romney, where raped teens would be forced to give up education and gays couldn't marry anywhere.

I highly doubt that would have happened. Yes Romney was against abortion but to get a law changed against abortion isnt that easy. If it was it would have already happened same with gay marriage. Obama on the other hand had 4 years to do something and he didnt do nothing, and thats why some of these states have filed petitions to secede.

For the record RE: this thread's title — the States didn't file the petitions. Some morons "on behalf" of said states did. HUGE difference.

Is it a surprise to anyone that the Constitution allows for the secession of individual states? The country is called the United States of America, not America. The states are supposed to be recognized as sovereign republics, independent of an over-arcing federal entity... however, with the Federal Reserve private bank in control of so much on a federal level, we Americans have a lot of rich&powerful people who'll flex political muscle and wage war before they just let states declare their independence. It's gonna get hairy.
