First and foremost, i do not intend to start a forest fire here and urge fellow NL users to keep it as civil as possible.
Id just like to ask if i could get a statement from @Damo on this one here: image
I have forwarded this to the directors, and I have no statement at the moment for this. For the time being, this will be archived until the directors want to make a statement.

OK guys, an explanation is most definitely in order here.
Full story: I retweeted Tom's excellent editorial on localisation three weeks ago. For some reason, one of the big gamergate guys on Twitter RT'd my RT yesterday morning, which pretty much triggered a landslide of mentions on my feed attacking the piece and generally hurling abuse at me (my Twitter feed is still clogged now).
My initial response was frustration aimed at a very select group of people (and the person I was speaking to in the exchange shown above by @Einherjar, Mike, is a close friend who often jokingly shares his own annoyances with PC gamers), but as you can see it has now flowed to a much wider group. Guess the lesson is to never say anything on Twitter you might regret, even if it is said in jest.
My Twitter "mentions" feed is still packed with stuff even now. I've even been accused of being homophobic because I don't think every localisation is a bad one.
Hopefully this addresses everyone's concerns - if you have any other comments, by all means drop us a line via email.
Thank you very much for your response @Damo.
My personal issue with this wasnt "saying anything in jest", i mean look at the lates SNES Virtual Console comment thread. Everyone can loose their temper. The issue i saw is, that you basically generalized everyone of us, your audience, no matter what kind of opinion we share or dont share.
It would have made a world of difference if things like "How many ? The usual suspects...." or "I think there isnt a number invented for it yet" would have been said instead of "Its a Nintendo site, so pretty much everyone is a "Man-Baby"".
You see, you complained about the "big gamergate guys" but this kind of behaviour is exactly the reason this movement exists in the first place. And in case of Fire Emblem, TorrentialDownpour has nothing to do with it. Its a Twitter hashtag that collects screencaps of the games translation to show the drastic differences between the original version. Saying that its about "Man-Babys wanting their Waifu petting back" was bound to draw criticism.
Anyway, those are my two cents about it, and like others said, im not angry but rather disappointed really. So far, every Member of NL did a fantastic job at staying publically neutral on certain subject matters and many people held it in high regards because of exactly that.
Blindly attacking a large group of people that might just be disappointed that a game highly anticipated was changed so drastically or have a general stance towards censorship you might not share is foulplay, especially for someone people looked up to in terms of neutrality.
Again, thank you for giving us a little more context and an explaination.

So I've only seen that image, but the implication seems to be "We're a Nintendo site, we do get whiny children", rather than "We're a Nintendo site, we are solely read by and write for whiny children".
I don't find the than an objectionable statement, and I don't it's a sweeping generalisation to say "our audience includes some number of a certain sort of people". I think things get awkward when you start implying all, most, or even a large proportion of your readers are of that certain (negative) description.
My main take from this is that Twitter is a deficient platform for making anything other than vanilla PR Statements. It gives the illusion of private discussion while being completely open and public.
I don't even think the whiny children part is bad, it's the way he mentions it's a Nintendo site seems like they're putting the site and Nintendo down but idgaf to be honest.
I'm mostly just thinking about how unfair it was that @Damo was put on trial so removed from context. And no, when you say something, you're not automatically referring to everyone in a group by default.
I can speak for @Damo, I know he cares for the people here on NL as he regularly emails us when someone is being a toxic member of the community. It is a bit unfair to take this out of context, and judge him for it.
That being said, I'd like everyone to move on from this topic as it's not going to get any more constructive from here.
