So I'm trying to unsubscribe from email updates - I'm following way too many threads and it's getting out of hand, especially since I check many of these threads daily. It has got to the point where NintendoLife consistutes 90% of my email inbox.
How is this actually done? The email footer links to https://www.nintendolife.com/users/Buizel#tab-group-settings but...this just shows me my profile. Am I missing something obvious? I'm looked all over my settings as well and can't find an option to unsubscribe.
@Yosheel I'm going with that at the moment - my only ticked box is "When someone @mentions me in a comment", yet I receive both emails and website notifications for any post made in any thread that I've followed.
I'll see if unwatching threads stops the emails - but ideally web and email notifications would be separate, imo.
I’m assuming your asking specifically about watched threads, which you can monitor here: https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/watched at the moment there is no way to stop the emails unless you unwatch all the threads. If you think it would be useful to be able to disable the emails but continue to watch them, then I could add a setting. Thoughts?
@antdickens Yes, watched threads. Excuse my terminology, I'm getting confused with social media and the like!
Personally I think it would be a nice feature, as I could keep my watched threads while being about to switch emails on and off at will (I guess I could always block the NL email adress!). But of course if no-one else has brought this up maybe it's not worth the effort haha.
Edit: I can confirm that unwatching threads stops the emails.
@antdickens Yes - like, the ability to switch off all email alerts at the account level, regardless of which threads you are watching and which notifications you have set up.
@antdickens I would welcome the untethering of emails from in-site notifications. I like going on the site and seeing the little red alert counter pop up in the corner, and I don't want to be deaf to replies, but I created an 'automatically archive' filter in Gmail a while ago to stop the flood of accompanying emails filling my inbox. Not sure how many people are the same, but definitely something worth considering.
