Suggestion: Nintendolife to stop hating Australia

Why?
Nintendolife post almost nothing about Australian Nintendo related news. Nintendolife go out of their way to avoid taking the one minute extra time to add in Australian times to events and other similar Australian info. An example of this is the Nintendo Switch time and day announcement. Nintendolife shared the US and UK times. Nintendolife did not share the Australian time. (To be fair Nintendolife did not share the Europe time either. It was shared on the Nintendo of Europe twitter account too). This is just one example of many where Nintendolife simply ignore Australia tot he point of outright hatred.

The solution?
The answer to this is very simple. For 99% of the news articles written up by Nintendolife nothing needs to change. However on the remaining 1% that can do with 1 minute extra work to add in an Australian time and date, that effort should be taken. It shows you care and it shows that you're not forgetting your Australian audience also. Nintendo makes the effort. Not much of an effort mind you but it's more than zero effort and I appreciate it.

I do want to like Nintendolife. I am trying hard to do so. The information here is relatively good and timely. But this kind of hatred (not just for Australia but for other groups as well) just turns away a portion of your potential audience. I know I've been harsh about this in the past. That's only because I want Nintendolife to be the best it can be. Discriminatory hatred is far from the best.

The members here could just say "don't let the door hit you on the way out and never come back". That removes the offended people but it does not fix the issue. Nintendolife will not all of a sudden stop being discriminatory just because all the groups they offend have left. Seriously it's not hard. Just take that one minute of effort every 20 to 30 articles where required and everyone will be happy.

I do hope you do the right thing here and fix up your attitude. I will be the first to appreciate this if you change your ways and do this.

They hate dutch people too. In fact, they hate everybody. Especially since the redesign, where every other article has a hateful headline. This is generally a hate speech site. They hate games too. They also hate hamsters. The evilness.

Stop the hate speech nintendolife! Make the internet safe again!

They usually have the Japanese time in their articles so I guess that's what they expect you to use as a reference point. It's two hours difference so it shouldn't be too hard to convert. Most people have to do some converting anyways since most of Europeans don't live in EST time zone and PT and ET don't cover the entire America either. I use EST as a reference point and add an hour to get my local time. I don't think it's much of a bother. I don't mind converting PT and ET to my local time either. It takes a second or so. There's nothing bad about adding another time zone to the articles though.

It's its, not it's.

Thanks for the post. First of all, it's not in any way an attitude against Australia, in terms of any sort of dislike. But you are right that it's not hard to add Australian times to articles referencing broadcasts etc. That's something we should remedy, and it's my fault as editor that we've not done it as standard up to now.

In any case, we're very much aware of the feedback. I know Anthony's considering options to improve things in the back-end to make it easy for writers, but in the meantime I'll endeavour to include AEDT in relevant articles. I've already updated today's Switch article; in defence of Mitch, it was late his time (Pacific US) when he wrote that piece and he likely overlooked it; I've retrospectively added US Eastern and CET as I normally do, but also AEDT.

Feedback on whether AEDT is the right option is very welcome. If possible one general Australian option (as I know there are multiple timezones) would be ideal.

Grow up. I live in South America, and you never see NintendoLife posting anything about here, and its expected - they are a british site. It would be better if you learned your country's hour difference with Japan or the UK and do the math yourself. Trust me, it isn't hard and it won't take more than a couple of minutes.

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

Now playing: Okami HD, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

@the8thark hey, thanks for the feedback - I've been meaning to give a tool to the editorial team about this subject for a while, it's quite annoying to have to work out all the different timezones with daylight savings times etc.

So, I've now given them a tool to automatically do this, which you should see on articles going forward, it looks like this: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2016/12/nintendo_confirms_br...

Thanks for the feedback!

Cheers

I hate this headline about Australia. Totally inflammatory and meaningless.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

They can, but they have trouble holding the controller and pressing buttons with boxing gloves on their hands.

Hate away, but soon you will fear us. All our animals are all naturally dangerous (except SOME of the sheep), but we are weaponising them for our inevitable world conquest. I'm training wombats to disrupt convoys by having them strategically place themselves in the middle of the road, acting as launch pads for cars that hits them. The government is also considering my proposal for replacing bombs with drop bears.
FYI, this is a drop bear:

As always, forget about the convicts.

Jesus, don't get all self-righteous. No one honestly thinks you're convicts or in anyway lesser people.

Unless you ask racists. Then they probably do.

Well, seeing as how Thomas and Anthony answered the question, we can move on, right?
