but is it possible to submit written pieces to Nintendo Life, and if so, how?

Not butchered, you nailed it. I actually responded when Nintendo Life asked on Twitter for writers. I submitted a ton of my previous work and despite not really having the availability to become a full time writer, I was invited to be a contributor and well, here I am. So submit one of work to the editorial staff and cross your fingers!
