I have this app called Ghostery that can detect and block spying bugs. So, I'm just wondering what these things do, I know they collect IP-adresses and other info and then sell it further to someone, but what do you gain from this? Do they pay you so they can use this site or do they collect info for you or something? This site has five of those for example doubleclick and quantcast.
Currently on the plate:
Mount and Blade: Warband – Napoleonic Wars
Chivalry
Super Mario 3D World – Finishing the last few levels.
Mario Kart 8
Here's a quick explanation: the "spying" bugs you mention are advert sites that use cookies to store information about how you use the web. This usually helps them deliver targeted advertising.
We don't choose our adverts — we have a separate company for that — but we obviously need advertisements to keep money coming in and keep the site going. That's how we benefit.
If ever you see an advert that you think is objectionable or unsuitable please use the Contact form to let us know.
Just to add to what James has said real quick — If ever you see an offending ad, please take a screenshot of it and include a link to that (upload it to imageshack or photobucket or some other kind of free image host if you prefer). Different ads get served to different parts of the world (even different parts of the same counttry), and the only way for Ant to absolutely, positively peg a bad ad is to have an image of which one it is. :3
