Topic: So how did we do with E3?

Hi guys,

Now that E3 is over I wanted to throw open the lines of communication for you to let us know exactly how we did.

I know we had technical problems on Tuesday before, during and after the Nintendo conference, which was due to a whopping 1,500 simultaneous users accessing the site. We know this limited the experience for a lot of you and we appreciate your patience and support — we're already discussing what to do better next year.

We want to hear what you made of our E3 coverage though. Did we focus on the right things? Did we bring you coverage about the things you cared about? Would you have liked fewer news posts, more editorial content — analysis, talking points, that sort of thing?

Let us know your thoughts and thanks again for your support!

I think it was a great job. Especially to be handling with both the eShop update before E3 started.

Considering that only Corbie was at the show, it was amazing at how much that man covered. And all of his impressions that were expressed in the news stories and in the chat were top notch too.

One thing I would like to see, especially due to the fact that your branching out into both Microsoft and Sony, is the coverage of their announcements and what not. I know that it would be more of a workload but it would be nice to see the whole conference.

Other than that, I have no complaints. Was a great few days and all the staff here have been great handling with it all.

Good job!

@Aviator If you're asking for Microsoft and Sony coverage here on Nintendo Life, well, that won't happen However I did coverage the Microsoft conference over at KINECTaku and we had content from the Sony show over at Movemodo. You're right though, it is a boatload more work, but duly noted!

When it comes to the coverage, well, I couldn't have asked for more. You guys really nailed every single detail and video there was to show. Having more people go to E3 next year for more opinions and coverage on anything that is everything would be very appreciated. (Not that if you guys didn't pull through with this would it bother me in the least.)

Otherwise you guys did a great job! Keep it up!

Just for you.

One man on the showfloor, over thousands of visits and constant news?

You don't even need to ask.

@GameLord08 I'm not really sure what you mean — please explain!

To respond to @Chrono_Cross and pre-empt anyone else requesting we send more staff to E3 — as I'm sure you know, we all do this for free. We are not professionals, just a group of enthusiastic gamers and writers wanting to create the ultimate Nintendo website. If we want to send someone else to E3, they'd have to pay for themselves, and it's not a cheap trip!

For anyone interested in gaming news, the coverage is certainly good and informative. But I personally am not really interested in E3 and the Wii U. And the excessively large E3 extension forces me to scroll down 5 pages to view the normal webpage. I think in the future, the E3 news should be moved to a separate tab.

I found that http://nintendo3dsblog.com had better e3 coverage.

Generally he'll have a really quick article up with the news that I want a lot quicker than NintendoLife. He had heaps of on-the-showroom-floor footage and trailers well before I saw anything of the sort on NintendoLife. It's not always as reliable (he does talk about rumours) but it's quick which is what you want for something like e3.

I found that last year NintendoLife did a brilliant job but this year, compared to nintendo3dsblog, it fell way short. The rest of the year though when I want a review or some opinion piece I think NintendoLife provides a good second opinion to IGN and whoever else. This is still one of the only sites that manages to get good reviews of just about every game I can think of but for e3..... it falls short in terms of speed.

@Skywake I'm sorry you felt let down this year, though I would say that obviously 3DSblog just focuses on one format whereas we do DS, 3DS, Wii, Wii U etc. which means a great deal amount more work.

I was personally posting and uploading everything as quickly as I could, and obviously Corbie was doing live text updates as often as he could, but I totally understand what you're saying. Cheers for the feedback!

I think you covered pretty much everything important, I'm still running around the site finding new news!

I think overall you guys did a great job. Corbie did an awesome job and I enjoyed reading his live updates, but I was kinda hoping for more pictures and video from the show. I think Corbie only took 4 pictures all week. And that's really not that big of a problem, since I can get pictures and videos from other sites.

@brooks83 I've already suggested next year we have a much richer live text experience, with videos and pictures etc. What you'll find is most sites double-up at events, so one will take videos/pictures while the other plays games (certainly how Dazza and I handle UK events!) but as Corbie is a lone gunman it's not so easy. Duly noted though!

@Render @Turtlelink Thanks guys

Well he also covers the Wii U now but you do have a point. He doesn't cover DS or Wii and he doesn't do any reviews or many opinion pieces. The opinion pieces and reviews are a large part of why I read NintendoLife and you don't get that at 3DSBlog much at all. For e3 though I'm mostly interested in what the breaking news is and I want to see as much footage and as many screenshots of the games in action as quick as possible. 3DSBlog did that much better I thought.

No I totally understand Corbie was out there alone, so he definately did an amazing job. Maybe next year you guys can get two people out there?

I mean Nintendo Life gave the best possible coverage available, that's what! Excellent work these past few days.

I got my E3 coverage from other sites as well as this one (that had multiple staff at E3), but I kept coming to NL because what it lacked in manpower/speediness it made up for in insightful and well-written articles that were always more fun to read than most other sites.

What I'd like to see more of hopefully soon are first impressions (which I know are coming!) and Q&A with Corbie to get our questions answered. For example, there was only one small mention of BIT.TRIP SAGA in your E3 coverage so far--I want more!

Terrible...absolutly terrible.
(har har)

It was great, this was actually the main site I kept checking back on. Not to mention the ONLY site, I participated in community discussion.
Tuesday was rough but it didn't last long, you guys did a fantastic job, and I would like to thank Corbie for giving us the coverage especially with the text-blog.

i feel corbie did an amazing job, especially considering he was on his own. the coverage was good, it all had depth. but i am just not impressed with E3 itself this year. it's all left me feeling a bit 'meh'...i think nintendo is spreading itself too thin and it showed with the WiiU presentations: the system is nowhere near being ready for presentation. IDK, maybe i'm just getting old and tired of all the 'things to come' stuff when what i am concerned about is good games truly ready soon.
