Well that makes tons of sense. Maybe they are an comparison to his family. Miyamoto has talked about him playing puzzles, the banjo, as well as his drafting. Which Nintendo wants him to shutup about in the past. In fact Japanese have this ideology about these clay people ( I forget but the Cactor in Final Fantasy series is shaped like it ) statue people. They have artifacts. In Japan it is as prehistoric as you can get there. Also note the items in the Gerudo area as well. ( somebody goes back to checkout the OOT to see what I am talking about ). Basically I could assume everything with the Gerudo is part of their lives.
