Hey mods, this probably sounds like...well i am asking for extra work xD, but i was wondering if you can compare metroid prime 3 corruption and the conduit in an article in a battle to see which stands as the definitive shooter on wii at this moment. I feel this is cool cuz these games are the two standout shooters on the console...so it would be cool for you guys to break it down in a showdown to crown the FPS/FPSA King for wii.

Maybe we can do something like that. But you don't want me doing it. I hate FPS games.
That being said, I haven't tried an FPS in quite awhile, so maybe I'll give The Conduit a try since it's gotten so much attention lately. Who knows, maybe it will convert me.

O wat do you hate about the them. The killing part?? Cuz thats not much worse than ur schmups, think about all the innocent alien pilots you're killing in those. Also, that was an super quick response...very nice.
I was implying that Corruption and Conduit are of the same quality as Niki and Plattchen. Learn to be insulted, sheesh.
O...lemme give that a shot...GRRRR ADAM HOW CUD U! MAN IM GONNA TEACH U A LESSON!!! Lol...nah i cant pull it off, but that was a good attempt you must say!

@DaDun: They are so different. The Conduit is a more linear, action-oriented one ala Halo, Metroid is more of a first person adventure.
ya but still they are what the wii is for FIrst person shooters right now, you can't say any other games can be placed on their level for the wii's FPS/FPSA genre. Im talkin about if you had to compare the pros cons of each as in graphics, control, story, gameplay, replay value categories, and then say the winner of each category and then based on who wins more categories crown the winner. So from the getgo, metroid wud prolly get story and conduit replay value cuz of the online, even tho shuda been offline.

The Metroid Prime games are first-person shooters in the same way that the Grand Theft Auto games are about stealing cars - the premise for each is merely a framing device for a much broader experience. The Conduit might be a fun game of comparable quality but the similarities are superficial.
There isn't much point in comparing them anyway because anyone who owns a Wii should own Metroid Prime 3 (or grab the compilation disc in a few months) regardless of what else is out there. This is non-negotiable.

I'm sorry, but we're going to have to negotiate here. I traded in Prime 3 within a month of purchasing it. The day I got it was the start of a quarter-life crisis for me. I couldn't help but feel I'd never enjoy a new game again.
But then New Super Mario Bros. Wii was announced and I got over it.
I bought Prime 3 upon release and played it, but found the running back and forth bits and some of the boss fights got quite tedious after awhile. It probably didn't help that stuff like Dark Samus made no sense to me and were never explained. It did look nice and control nice (I never used the Z-targeting feature because the IR control was nicely intuitive for circle-strafing) though.
I also got irritated by back-tracking to get hard to reach things only to find they were yet another lame missile upgrade when I had enough for my purposes long long ago. As a result I did %74 in the game and got the less-than-sooper-dooper ending, but didn't care.
Dark Samus was explained in Prime 2. It was a fairly monotonous and dreary story, so don't feel you're missing out on anything. Prime 2 had the best morph ball puzzles though, if you're into that. I enjoyed them for what they were, but they were really out of place for a Metroid game. They even had some bosses you fought while in a morph ball. That was pretty amusing.
"As a result I did %74 in the game and got the less-than-sooper-dooper ending, but didn't care" Maybe it's because of this kind of thing, why do you don't know about Dark Samus. (I'm not sure since i didn't play Prime 1, but i think that the secret ending showed the "birth" of Dark Samus)
