When quoting in the forum the quoted text appears in a nice looking grey box on white background. But when quoting in the comments section, the quoted text appears in a white box on white background. That doesn't look quite right.

Can you change the colour of the quote-boxes in the comments section, please?

Edit:

I mean these things. They are usually grey but in the comments-section they are white and therefore invisible.

I'm not sure, but if we could, I would change it to <TEXT COLOR=blue>blue</TEXT>, my favorite color. :D

I agree that this can be a problem. People rarely quote in comments, but is that because they don't want to or because of this problem? I don't know...

Wow! A Reply. This can't be true. {rubs eyes} :-)

I fear I don't have made this clear enough. I don't want to change the color of the text. I mean when something is quoted in the comments section it looks like this:

Untitled

There are only some dots on the left side of the box and the box itself is invisible because the color of the box is white on white background.

Can you change the color of the boxes to something different than white? Please?

I understood what you meant, and I agree that such an upgrade would be very welcome. As it is, I'm not really sure why it DOESN'T have a colored background, given that quotes do on the forums.

^ Sorry, Stuffgamer1, it's obvious that you have understood it right. Looks like you and me almost posted at the same time so I didn't noticed it. (It took me a while to make the picture and upload it to Geocities.)

And I guess that the request is not important enough to be able to get a response from the admins.

I don't think you were meant to quote in the comments section for some reason, that's why there isn't a quote button. But it is a problem that should be fixed.

@Omega: That also explains why you said you got "a" comment when there were actually two. Oh, well...no harm done! :)

@Starkiller: If we REALLY weren't meant to do it, wouldn't it not be possible at all? Like, the coding shown in post #4 would display as typed instead of becoming what's shown in the picture. At least, that's what I would ASSUME would be the case...

I think there is no quote-button in the comments-section because the admins/mods want to avoid these (annoying) fullquotes where the quote takes up much more space than the answer, which kinda halts the reading flow.

But I still think that quotes make sense if only the part necessary for the answer is quoted.

And, most important, I still think that the quote boxes in the comments-section shouldn't be white.

... Hello? Anybody there?

@Omega: The quotes are probably white because that's the default colour for these sorts of things (usually.)
@Stuffgamer: We probably shouldn't be able to quote at all. I don't have a good explanation for you, but I stand by my theory.

Now that this is an ongoing discussion in the "Suggestions, Ideas, & Feedback" section of the forums, shouldn't we be seeing a Mod post in here about now? I'd like this cleared up...

Hi guys.

This is something we never really considered as the comments section wasn't intended for people quoting each other. I don't think it's something we'll be changing in future although I could be wrong. For now, pop your quotes in bold by surrounding them in asterisks.

I am not ignoring you. I just do not post much.

Well, what do you know? Looks like Starkiller was right! Eats words...nomnomnom!

Thanks, Prosody. I don't suppose it's a HUGE issue since, as I said, people rarely quote in the comment boards anyway. Bold and/or italics should work just fine. :)

Okay, it's not a big problem and I can live without proper looking quotes in the comments. I just asked because it's clearly stated (right next to the input textbox) that comments do support basic bbcode formatting. That is not even mentioned in the forums.

When we say basic, we mean really basic, Omega - bold, italic, underlined and url are all supported but quote, code and others aren't.

Thanks for your understanding!

I do not want to belabor but I think it's still a bit unclear what I mean.

Everything that is supported in the forums is also supported in the comments. Including [quote]
, [img], [youtube] etc. The only problem (if you would call it a "problem" at all) is that quote-boxes are poorly visible because of their white color. Changing the color to something different like grey or light blue would solve this (minor) problem.

But okay. I give up. :-P

... perhaps it's a design flaw or a bug that those extra bbcode elements are also (halfway?) supported in the comments section, then. Consider it a bonus? :3
