I was looking around here at the reviews and I decided to check out the forums. And one thing that saves this forum from being just another video game forum is the lack of a post count. But I think thats a good thing. Without a post count people tend to spam less and it keeps away all the annoying people who try to build up some sort of reputation by getting 10,000 posts in two weeks. It keeps it a solid forum with members who will only post when they have something they actually want to say rather than just say "oh cool" to every thread.
So yeah, I just wanted to let you guys know that I think that is a great idea and hopefully it stays this way.
OH! Gotcha. Yeah, I never really paid much attention to those things on other forums, not that I've spent all THAT much time on other forums in the first place. I agree it's a good idea, anyway. Having that kind of tally is just ASKING for pointless posts. Like I reached over 100 posts in the course of one thread on Playstation.com. Never would've known if it wasn't for that silly little counter there.
EDIT: I just realized I contradicted myself in this post. I guess I pay a bit more attention to that little number than I thought, but in no way mind its absense here.
in another site qhere i am, there are too many discussions and conplainments about "You only care about your pos number" over and over again. I wont say i never cared about that number, but actually, i dont care abiout it. I prefer to make ten usefull posts than 100 generic and unpersonal posts.
That reminds me in the same site as i said, a new guy entered, and replied nearly all of the threads that there were able to reply, he added me to MSN, and the firts thing he said to me was "Yeah! Sixty replies in two hours!". All of his replies were generic, unsustancial, nearly useles... True story.

You know, achievements/trophies are becoming way too much like post counts these days. Everyone is going crazy over them and just trying to rack up as much gamerscore as possible by renting games like Avatar. Achievements to me are like challenges. I only go for them if I want to try to complete that challenge. I don't care about the points it will give. I love Resident Evil 5 and because of that I am trying to beat it on Professional but I'm not going to do something like beat Too Human repeatedly just to get all the gamerscore if I'm not going to have fun doing it.
Same goes for post counts, they mean nothing if the posts made to get there don't mean anything.
I want to earn all the Trophies/Achievements I can in a game I wanted to play already. I won't go out and play Avatar for an easy thou, and I think people who do are nuts. I am proud that I have the highest Trophy Level on my friends list, just from me playing games I like.
My Backloggery Updated sporadically. Got my important online ID's on there, anyway. :P
I think it would still be a good idea if you could see all your forum posts like with article comments though, so that you can see the number yourself, but keep it a secret.
So we (the public) can't see the post count, which I'm grateful for. But, you must still record those stats yeah, who is 'the worst offender' at NL, do you know?
