Topic: Nintendo Life is NOT SECURED (is now)

This is a popular website, I'm very disappointed that you haven't yet put in security measures to protect your users that use the website. Nintendo life should invest (which is not that expensive) in a security certificate. I know you don't make purchases here on Nintendo life, but a lot of users could get their passwords compromised. Which is fine I guess if they practice good password habits like not having the same password over multiple sites, but I'm guessing a lot of them don't.

Actually, I think it does belong in News because it is News about this site. But here in a less populated area where ppl are less likely to see that Nintendolife isn't secure is a good spot too I guess.

The admins read this forum every now and then. So it's better here.

Anyway, the fact it doesn't have a security certificate is kinda obvious. Aren't those more for sites that manage sensitive information, though?

Or are there many gaming fan sites that have them? It's an honest question.

Mainly yes, but once a site gets popular, it becomes more and more of a target because hackers can steal more and more passwords.

But to Answer your question:

1. Kotaku - Secure
2. N4G - Not Secure
3. GotGame - Secure
4. ShackNews - Not Secure
5. Giant Bomb - Secure
6. Destructoid - Secure
7. EpicBattleAxe - Not Secure
8. Joystiq - Secure
9. OverClocked ReMix - Secure
10. Creative Uncut - Not Secure
11. Fangamer - Secure
12. Nintendo Everything - Secure
13. Push Square - Not Secure
14. This is Xbox - Not Secure
15. PC Gamer - Secure
16. Zelda Dungeon - Secure
17. Serebii.net - Secure
18. Kingdom Hearts Insider - Secure

So 12/18 of the gaming fan sites I think are popular, are secure.

Agree with @thejuice027 any site which has any modicum of personal data should have security certificate

Yes. Heaven forbid someone hacks my NL account.

The impact to my life would be disastrous.

By which i mean wholly inconsequential and effecting me in no significant way whatsoever.

@Tasuki @the_shpydar Your email is linked to your account, and so is, for many people, their Nintendo ID, PSN name, Xbox ID, and several social media accounts. Unless you keep a different password for every single one of them, it's not an issue, but many people don't. Heck, even I don't. It's a good question IMO, and proper feedback. I've been wondering the same thing too.

@Tasuki I don't feel bad for suggesting an increase in security. Shame on you for being a put down.
