Here's two news articles

https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/12/smash_bros_ultimate_...
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/12/smash_bros_ultimate_...

In both news articles what the person said was supposedly quoted. However Nintendolife did not quote where they got this information from so we can check it out and verify it.
How do we know if Nintendolife is accurately reporting here? We all assume they are but how can we prove it? Nintendolife are not providing the sources for us to check ot out. So it seems we have to do our own research to verify the information contained there.

This is unacceptable and very poor journalism. Proper quoting / linking to your sources is very important. Saying "this person said ABC" is not good enough. How do we know they actually said that? Either we believe Nintendolife with blind faith or we research it up ourselves.

I'm not saying Nintendolife is lying to us. I do assume the information is correct. I shouldn't have to assume though. Links to the sources should be there.

These two articles are just two examples of a trend that is happening out there in gaming journalism. Nintendolife are not the only ones who are not properly quoting their sources.

Would it be possible for Nintendolife to look into this so future articles have their information properly sourced.

Probably a genuine mistake. I would @ the author of the article and point this out.

Hi @the8thark!

Thanks for sending us some feedback. The two articles in question are reporting on news sent to us through official press releases from Nintendo and its communication partners. The quotes are taken directly from these press releases and, as such, it is impossible for us to share a link or similar for readers to check out themselves.

Having said that, we do see how this might not be evidently clear. We'll therefore endeavour to mention where quotes such as these have been taken from in future articles.

Thanks again, hope this clears things up!

Or, ya know, look it up yourself. Even if they make a change, you're then just going to go continue your crusade about their reviews and state that the authors don't know what they're talking about.
