You should be able to explain why you are reporting someone, so it's easier to decide whenever to punish them or not. Also, I accidently clicked on the Yes button on the report button on a comment, so you should be able to take reports back

There's a reason there's an "are you sure...?" window. Besides, users would abuse this and the admins would not be very happy.

Also, admins review the reported posts before making any decisions. If you want to report a specific user in general, use the "Contact" feature below on the far right

I wouldn't worry too much about the mods know what they are doing and can decide what is the right course of action if any to be taken, if you want to give a detailed answer beyond alerting the staff to where the violation took place then you can use the contact form

In the future, a chip will be implanted to all NL users and everytime someone's self esteem is emotionally affected, a signal will immediately be sent to mods informing them of the big pity party. Think of it as a sort of insta-report telepathy, if u will...!!! xD

@PikminMonster: the Push Square and KINECTaku forums already have a 'report summary' feature allowing users to tell us why they're reporting things; hopefully we'll see that implemented at Nintendo Life as well when the forum upgrade goes through. As for accidental reports, we know they happen, and if we're truly confused we can e-mail the person who reported the comment(s) in question asking for clarification. It's no big deal to accidentally report something — don't worry, we can tell the difference between an accident and someone abusing the system. :3

As for deciding whether punishment is appropriate or not, that's up to the moderation team. We're usually able to tell off the bat what's happening in a thread and take appropriate action thusly, but if we can't, again we usually get in touch with the person who reported the comment(s) in question and ask for clarification via e-mail.

i'll close it for you, don't worry :3

also, just so you know, we do receive the occasional mod note via Contact Form, which is fine too. if you have a complicated situation that you'd like to explain and you would feel more comfortable spelling things out for us, you are welcome to use the Contact Form instead (please provide URLs to the threads/comments you'd like for us to look at, of course).
