And at the time of writing, the poll indicates that the majority of readers would buy such a device.
Except it doesn't. I think you are referencing the poll to back up your opinion.
At the time of this post, Yes is at 48% and No and Maybe are both at 26%. 48% is less than those two options combined, which is 52%. Which means that the only readers who would buy a Nintendo phone are the minority, not the majority. The rest of the readers would not or aren't sure. It's almost 50/50, but the Yes voters are still in the minority.
A "maybe" is a more positive reaction than a straight "no" - a maybe indicates that the person is open to buying one, but is undecided.
My point is that the poll is largely at odds with the negative comments, which I assume are being left by a vocal bunch of grumpy people.
You have to keep in mind that everything isn't that clear-cut, though. For example: I'm against a Nintendo phone, but I voted "yes" on the poll, because I would 100% buy one if they released it. The reason is that, well, it would be a Nintendo platform, and those generally are my favorites; doesn't mean that I think such a move would be wise if it happened. Those are two different questions, really.
That all said, I love the Talking Points, and I don't feel like they're click bait. If we're talking about that "Sonic Boom is doing great" article last week, though...
The problem isn't Damo it's Nintendo fanboys that are the problem. Every time that yo mention that Nintendo should try something different or that they should do this or that the fanboys go ape **** and start vocalizing their thoughts in negative ways, you can't blame the writer of an article for that. While I love Nintendo I have to admit the Nintendo Fanboys are some of the most vocal and honestly most immature, rude fanboys around and something like an opinion piece is going to draw their attention.
If you think Nintendo fanboys are the most immature, I suggest you browse a few Xbox / PS websites. Better yet: go to IGN and see the difference in the general comments between Nintendo-centric articles and those focusing on Sony and Microsoft.

Pretty sure Tasuki is a mod on Push Square, but that's a small community. The larger Sony fanbase can be pretty venomous.

Oh we get our share of those there but it all depends on how the mods handle those type of people really. I have been to other sites like IGN and as far as Sony and MS fanboys go over there they are pretty bad too but I think IGN just attracts the worst of the worst so I can't really compare the comments there to anywhere else. Nintendo fansboys just are an odd bunch kinda of like I said immature. You put cold hard logic in their face and instead of just looking at it they start the attacks and the insults. One reason I stopped posting over here alot especially when it comes to the opinion of a Nintendo game or something along those lines. I want to be able to discuss not argue.

Hey @Damo. Keep up the great writing.Your Senran Kagura piece is one of my favorites this site has put out this year. If anything I don't think you were scathing enough, and were too neutral on the subject. I love more opinion oriented pieces and talking point pieces, the more the merrier I say. The easiest thing to do in journalism of any kind is to piss off a video game fan. Keep up the great work.

I remember being confused, in the first few months of the Wii U, why people on here kept raving about Miiverse. I totally get it now. There's no debate on miiverse, no logic, just a bunch of 'Who else thinks Nintendo are the best?' posts with everyone clicking Yeah! They can live in a bubble where Nintendo is universally loved and there's no room to question it.
Actually, miiverse has very little to do with nintendo at this point.
It's more filled with clueless young kids and Internet celebrity-wannabes that think they can become famous on it if they get enough followers and yeahs.
Only a few comunitites are used properly, and that's only if you decide to ignore non-user content.
A lot of Nintendo fans don't like talking about problems, solutions to problems, change (as in new ventures, ideas etc.) and plenty other things. I can understand why to some degree as most conversations have a bleak feel most cases but there just seems to be so many more deluded fans this gen.

All I really use Miiverse for is too save screenshots (with the occasional comment), too many crazy people on there and it doesn't help the moderation system is a joke.
I like the idea behind Miiverse but it has so many problems most of all the moderation. I just avoid it have since day one since I figured it would be full of Nintendo Fanboys, but that's just obvious.

I hate to dredge this up, but after I saw the article, I got miffed and went searching to see if I could find articles that stated a contrary opinion. I could not. In fact, I believe I found a few posts by Damo that suggested the same things he said in the article back in 2012, though I don't have the links and they took 2 hours to find the first time...anyways...I at least have no problems with it now. I don't agree with him, but it's not like he's stating an opinion he doesn't really believe in.
I love nintendolife, and thanks to damo and the others for running it the way you guys do. I don't believe anyone on this site, especially the people running it, deserve their name mentioned in a topic with less than positive feedback attached to it. I like both the community and the content on this site, which is a rare combination.
The news editor Damian here at Nintendo Life has been publishing sensationalist news stories that are too click baity and really tarnishing Nintendo Life as a more down to earth media outlet for gaming news. It seriously feels like I'm reading an IGN article when I read his articles which is definitely not a good thing. That last Talking Point article was a good example of him trying to stir the pot and anger many Nintendo fans. Honestly even though I'm not angry about it myself sensationalist articles like these will likely hurt this website in the long-run which is something that I don't want to see as this is one of my favorite Nintendo-Centric websites on the web.
Where were you nearly two years ago? I was under the impression everyone was aware of this.
Just for you. "I'm just a musical prostitute, my dear." - Freddie Mercury
This site is full of trash people, articles, and authors. Period.
"This game is incomplete trash. Quite literally. Please do not mistake this for joking because I'm very serious. That's why I haven't bought this shovel ware until they patch it. Also another reason why Brawl and Melee are superior. No one should ever be afraid to play a game because it has bugs that might make the game and system both unplayable. Please debate me on this. No one could possible defend this."
You know, this site has seen better days, particularly the community, but if there's one thing I dislike more than unconditional love, it's haters. In other words, you're part of the problem. If Smash is shovelware then what's good? Nothing's perfect, and the industry's put out much worse lately. Nintendo sometimes get off easy for things, but bashing them to a greatly hyperbolized extent and then expecting to be taken seriously is just as pitiful. With that, I hope your pretentious ego-headed self can overcome your cynicism and see what I mean one day, but of course I'm placing much more faith in you than I should be. It had to be said.
