I have an idea for the site. Sometimes when I'm on NL I want to talk to specific users and know if people are online. I think there should be a friend system where you can add specific users as friends, and then you can see if they're logged in, view their info and see their most recent comments/posts. This information could be presented on a 'Friends' page in 'My Account'. Thanks for reading, LuWiiGi

WarioWare: DIY: FC - 0904 7088 3011 Favourite users: PunnyGuy, StarBoy91, cloudcult10, Xkhaoz, Dragoon, DannyBoy, NintyFan, NintendoPurist, Sadman, Wooperman1, Golgo, GamesX99, turtlelink. The rest of you are cool too, though.
As a list of favourite users it'd be easy to track what they've written, when they were last on and so forth. I understand what you're getting at LuWiiGi
if there's an option to see if we're logged in, i want an option to be able to opt out. I don't like people being able to see when I'm online -- i've turned that function off on a few other sites, in fact.
BEST THREAD EVER future of NL >:3

@LuWiiGi: that would only be a problem if NL had varying levels of privacy. NL is completely open to the public, however, so whoever wants to look up what you're doing would be able to do so without this suggested feature. It just makes things easier this way for people to keep track of whoever they want to keep track of, is all.
what I'm talking about is the little indicator telling everyone that you're currently online -- i'm just not a fan of people knowing exactly when I am and am not online is all, and I'd like to be able to opt out of that part of the feature. i'm cool with people seeing where i've been posting lately, though -- in fact, i suggested a similar feature in the Have Your Say thread a while back. :3

I'd totally go for something that lets you follow specific people and what they've posted. There's one very sexy lady several people I'd like to read without having to scour the site to find.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
I'm definitely a fan of all of this - friends lists, private messages, an ability to opt out of people being able to see when i'm online, the whole shebang.
Your online status could be invisible to all guests/non-friendlisted users, and online/offline/invisible to friends.
I'm against this feature. How am I supposed to browse when my inbox is being bombarded by love letters and offers of money from every member of the site?

Don't see the point really, theres already a watch topic thing, watching the user seems a bit unnecessary, finding updated threads is easy enough, so keeping tabs on your chosen stalking victim is already easy enough, kind of brings up a privacy issue too.
