@Quarth thanks, I will try to have a nice weekend and of course you are welcome to criticise, we'll always be there to listen but we at the same time don't necessarily have to agree with it either - as you say we're all entitled to our opinions. The door is always open for valid feedback, you know where I am! Have a good one yourself.

@BlueOcean thanks for taking the time to post, however I don't think I can say much more that hasn't already been said earlier in the thread. I'm really proud of our team and what we've achieved since Switch launched. It's easily the highlight of the site's life so far and, on the whole, the best content we've ever produced. I'm sure it would be easy to pick out some issues from the 1000s of articles we've published in that time, but no one is perfect 100% of the time. If those infrequent issues are too much for you, or someone else, that's fair enough.

@ReaderRagfihs I'm only speaking for myself here and I'm just talking about the article that inspired this thread. I'm not saying there are a lot of clickbait on this site, but it exists. Of course it's the same or worse on other sites, but I don't care about those sites, I care about this site, NL, that I frequent and most of the time enjoy visiting, and I also think it's a faulty argument to bring up other sites, which Damo also did: "Look, other gaming pages do it too!" It doesn't make it less wrong. I like NL and most of its content, but it saddens me when this kind of articles is defended and it's we as users that are to blame.

@antdickens Thanks for responding. I'm criticizing because I like this site. There's not a lot of clickbait here, but this article in particular just annoyed the crap out of me.

Now I'm onto playing some NSMBUDeluxe, of which I thought you guys gave a good review!

@antdickens Thanks for your reply and have a nice weekend you and everyone else, but I still think what is really shining on NL now is quantity and not quality. I think it's obvious that we care about NL and it's sad that some people think that they have to justify themselves in that sense, we are not new users or spammers, we are just being honest.

@Quarth you must have missed out on that on Wii U then? As I personally can't understand why anyone would buy it on Switch if they had but that's me! Enjoy!

@antdickens Never owned a Wii U, so this is new to me. Haven't played a NSMB since the first one on DS, but I'm really enjoying it so far. I understand if one wouldn't want to double-dip though.

@BlueOcean yeah, I totally get that man, believe me, I care about it too The only thing that irks me personally is that sometimes other people seem to think they know better than me as to what the site is "supposed to be". I've been running it for almost 15 years now so I like to think I've got a pretty good idea of what it's trying to be, but I'll always be open for feedback. I actually feel that talking to me directly is more constructive that threads like this, so feel free to reach out whenever. Cheers!

@Quarth I have no problem with constructive criticism, I just disagree that this is an issue. There are some things I don't like here (like the lists that rank games of a series that only exist to get people riled up on slow news days) but I really disagree that clickbait is a problem here. The article in question isn't really what I would consider clickbait.

I also disagree that it's a faulty argument to bring up competitors when judging something. If it was, there'd be a lot less complaints about Nintendo Switch Online.

@antdickens LOL! Haven't owned a home console since N64. It has been portable only for me until the Switch (which is a hybrid, so don't know if it counts). But I have all the handheld Nintendo consoles from the Game Boy and onward. I was lurking here during the 3DS era, became a member when I got a Switch.

@ReaderRagfihs Agree to disagree.

@antdickens I believe you when you say you know what you want for the web that you run. That makes sense but the changes on this website have been for the worse regarding articles, news and guides according not just to me but to many comments on the thread and on the comments sections every day.

I believe that we are also part of Nintendo Life, at least regarding comments, forum and yes, also clicks and traffic. I don't want to fight anyone, I am not angry and whenever I see positive things I say them too, but I think that the content decline is pretty obvious, at least from the outside.

The content written by people like Thomas Whitehead and Morgan Sleeper among others for NL, that's what have impressed me over the years. Those reviews, coverage and articles... they are top-quality. Recent stuff? In general, it's sloppy and sensationalist. I know it's not nice to read this but the content is there for us and I need to be honest with what I am reading right now because I do read and if I do not I don't comment. So yeah, basically this. Have a nice weekend everyone.

@Quarth I see your point about that article, I guess I just was not bothered by it, but you brought up fair criticism of the cod article.
