No offense Pro' but the question was asked 3 weeks ago, it's not important I know but even a canned response might be nice. And 50 websites you say, there was me thinking Nintendo Life was special. Hassle him lots!!!
I know, and we do try to respond to user questions as soon as we can, but in this instance it's obviously just fallen through the cracks. Nobody's perfect.
It's not gonna happen....jpeg is the universal easy-to-use web standard. A comparable bitmap image is exponentially larger and other formats probably take more work to implement. Besides, it'll probably add to the already wackdiculous refresh times /grumble
If you had been reading you would have seen that even Jpeg's get their quality downgraded.
There he goes, Firkraag. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die. - My VGscore

Sorry I have to disagree with having larger avatars, its annoying when an avatar takes up a lot of room, and the user only gives a single sentence answer, it just takes up unnecessary space.
Sorry to drag up old topics, but this is bugging me now. pixelman made me a new avatar, as seen here:
However, when it's uploaded to the site, it loses some of it's luster, as you can see. I would just like to be able to view my avatar as it was intended to be viewed. Is there any way this can be addressed?
Lieutenant Commander of the Lesbian Love Brigade
There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
Did you hire Ant temporarily for this job rather than him being on staff? Because now it's been a month, and there's still no official response..
Said by the man with this avatar:
. . . 'cuz we're all really impatient to see Cammy's #&@ in greater clarity.
... uh, that looks like Bridget to me, not Cammy...

[16:44] LztheBlehBird: James doesn't know the rules? For shame!!!

Ant is the site's technical director. I don't know how many times I've said this, but he has stacks of other sites to run as well, each with a pretty sizeable to-do list, and this just isn't a a priority at the moment. There - I said it.
I don't know who Bridget is, but it greatly resembles Cammy to me at this level of detail.
on further perusal, you're probably right. both of them have much crotch-shot fanart, and they both are blonde with blue clothing. my bad. :3

That's alright, you're not expected to have too much literacy in female crotch-shot fanart, being a lady and all. I, on the other hand, should be ashamed that I'm not even aware of this other fanart vixen.
EDIT: theblackdragon has explained that this Bridget character is a male, not a vixen, and not something any of us want to see in that pose. Good thing it's actually Cammy. I'm gonna be pissed if it turns out to be Bridget once the image quality is improved.
Just to chime in , I am very happy with the image quality of avatars.
This site balances user idenity perfectly - an avatar and a sig, but niether are overdone. Some forums go SO overboard, and it detracts from the game disccusion.
I am happy with things the way they are, nice balance.
Ben Cartwright: You and your education. Adam Cartwright: Education is progress! Now what have you got against it? Ben Cartwright: I don't have anything against education - as long as it doesn't interfere with your thinking!
I don't see how better quality could hurt, though. Forum avatars only become a problem for me when there isn't a limit on the dimensions. Oversized avatars are annoying. Animated ones can be pretty annoying, too, if they're too flashy, though thankfully we don't have to deal with that hear since gifs aren't used.
Edit: Super Pixel Man beat me to it, and explained much better with actual examples. I feel so useless.
