Everyone's been too quick to complain about it when they haven't even officially told us anything about it yet. It's just going to be an optional control scheme I'm pretty sure, just like how the Wii has several option control schemes such as the Classic Controller Pro or the Gamecube controller.
If Monster Hunter comes out here I think I'll quite enjoy using the add-on to play for countless hours on end, if it's as comfortable in my hands as the Classic Controller Pro. The only problem comes with the idea of maybe having to buy a new 3DS in the near future or being stuck with an inferior model... But that was always going to happen to some degree anyway and I think it's great if they're going to the effort to add a good optional control scheme that can be used in many future games.
This sounds suspiciously like reasoned logic, BenAV. There's no place for that in the knee-jerk reactionary world of Nintendo online discussion.
Either change your opinion to "OMG THIS SUCKS NINTENDO YOU'VE BETRAYED ME FOR THE LAST TIME" or take your thoughtful and considered responses elsewhere.
I think many people are up in arms over the topic is because the circle pad thing stemmed from a rumor first that also stated there would be a hardware revision to follow, so since the first rumor was true, the other could be as well. Not saying that there are never hardware revisions for Nintendo consoles, its just that they usually add something like extra light or smaller size, never a full on control change.
Also, no one was expecting the 3DS to be revised this soon. I've noticed a lot of people ask why early adopters are mad when they knew this would happen. Well, I'm sure everyone knew there would be a 3DS 2 or something, but not within 6 months. Nintendo handhelds usually get revised in two years time, not half a year.
But still its just a rumor. No one knows for sure.

I'd imagine it's just the add-on coming out in the near future... Could still be a year or two before they announce a new console. I guess we really just don't know much yet.
And hey... I know I'm going to be buying a new, superior 3DS model at some point along the line, so that's money as good as spent... so I'd probably rather get my new system sooner rather than later.
