Nintendo Power is very careful about only printing reviews for downloadable games that will have been released by the time the magazine goes to print. However, they're not always perfect with it, as they once printed a review of "Rage of the Gladiator" shortly before it was released.

The latest issue contains a review of "Zen Pinball 3D" (Recommended), so the game should be released soon.
edited title to reflect the fact that the game is out — TBD

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

Under the same logic, Cut the Rope should be coming soon to DSiWare as well. Hopefully this is true; then again, ZP may still need to be ESRB rated and get a release date from Nintendo.

Exactly.

I hope its out in the next couple weeks. I'm on a bit of a video pinball high thanks to Pinball Hall of Fame 3D. True to life pinball tables are fun but I'm now interested in trying some more fantasy types of tables. This title looks like it should fit the bill nicely :)

I have this on the PS3, the base version + the Street Fighter 2 table and right along with Pinball Hall of Fame(Williams) it has the best tables and physics making it super enjoyable. I like this mix up of tables that the 3DS is getting with 2 of the later addon on stuff such as Excalibur and then 2 of the 4 original classic tables (though it's sad El Dorado is out.) I'll be getting this no questions asked when it pops up. I do live in the minority though that I hate that it's online in such an obtrusive way flashing peoples highest scores of all time leaving totally unobtainable goals rubbed in your face youll never hit unless you really are about the best damn pinball wizard around (which I'm not, I have terrible luck with balls going down the sides where you can't stop it.)

Provided Zen Studios decides to implement DLC for Zen Pinball, maybe, if they decide to bring that to the eShop version that is.

Exactly.

I'm anxious to try this game. Pinball should look great with 3D effects. I hope this makes it by the end of the year

I love pinball games. I used to play the pinball game that came with Windows XP all the time. It's a shame that Windows 7 doesn't have one.

If you're referring to Space Cadet Pinball, it was originally part of Windows '95 Plus!, and it still works if you copy it over to Windows 7 (Windows '95 compatability mode recommended).

Oh, Space Cadet! Wow. I forgot about that. It was a great game! When I begged my dad to get me a new PC back in the day ("our family neeeeeeds it!") lol... I really just wanted to play Space Cadet and mess around with the Internet. It was a great game! I also like dsiware's "Pinball Pulse" but why haven't they made a 3DS version (or made a retail game out of it) yet?

@6ch6ris6 I think it's totally awesome. The camera option which follows the ball and having the 3D turned way high works the best for me in this game.

I've just published my review of it, and I scored it 5/5.

It's an essential game, and the most fun I've had with my 3DS in ages.

Good review Choco. I'll definitely get this now. I definitely raised some eyebrows though, when you said this game was better than 3D Land and MK7. Have you even played MK7 yet to make that claim?

I guess it is his personal opinion. I have all three games. I would not call Zen Pinball the best of these three because you can't really compare them--they are completely different games in terms of gameplay.

I really like Zen Pinball... it is a cool game and definitively worth the price. It is also a hard game.

Comparing Apples to oranges when I did that. You can't compare the actual quality of those games to one another, but I do see myself playing Zen Pinball far more than the other two games, MK7 and 3D Land, in my opinion, are relatively poor examples of their genres - good games, but I've played games that have had better impact on me elsewhere (such as some of the earlier Mario Kart games, and the 2D Mario games). In other words, the two Nintendo games lack the 'X-factor' that puts them above the genre.

Zen Pinball, on the other hand, merges the best darned pinball physics I've ever experienced, with 3D (a massive boon for pinball) and ties it up in a portable package, again perfect for pinball. As such, it blew me away as literally something I haven't experienced before.

It's the latter I reserve my 5/5 scores for. Incremental improvement games such as the two Mario games, I would score between 3.5/5 and 4/5.
