Anyone download Witch's Cat yet if you do can you leave your impression of the game and do you think I should play the first 2 DSiWare Rabi Laby games first?

I played the first 7 levels and then replayed them to get the platinum time on each. The first 5 levels were your typical introductory cakewalk levels, but the next two really started to show off the complexity of the different spellcasting mechanics, and the 7th level actually had me stumped for quite a while. I can tell that there's plenty of puzzle-y goodness to be had with this one going forward! I'm also happy to see that the silly, slightly engrish-y banter between the game's characters has carried over from Rabi Laby.

To the guy asking about the Rabi Laby games: The mechanics in those games are mostly different than the ones here (the only similarity is that you have one playable character with a weak jump and a second playable character with a higher jump, but in Rabi Laby you had both characters on the screen at the same time while in Witch's Cat you actually only have one playable character who can changes between two playable forms). You should get the Rabi Laby games though, since they're amazing!

I think fans of the Rabi Laby series will simply enjoy Witch’s Cat. The magic and how it’s used in stages is a new feature and provides a greater challenge, but overall I believe it’s a welcomed addition.

And as silly as the story may be it does play a critical role (more so towards the ending) in the overall Rabi Laby series and needed to be told before Rabi Laby 3 is released.

Rabi Laby had a story? I got stuck on like level 7 in the first game, because of a massive difficulty spike and never finished it.
Also Rabi Laby 3 just confirmed. That's cool.

Haha! I never said it was an epic novel or anything, but yea, there is bit of a story to it.

Simple Game Notes...

Raby Laby 1 – The silly rabbit jumps in the hole and Alice follows Rabi. They end up in the world of Wonderland and end up escaping from it

Raby Laby 2 – The Queen is upset that they manage to escaped, so she sent her minions, the cats to capture them and once again they escape, but not without some unknown help.

Witch’s Cat – A cat that helped Alice and Rabi escape from part 2 becomes fond of Alice and desire to become human in order to befriend Alice. With the help of a witch, she is able to transform between human and cat and sets out on a journey to leave Wonderland for the Human world and seek out Alice.

Hmm, kind of hard to put into words how to do it. I can try or if you rather you can email me and I can email you back a video of that stage.

To destroy the blocks, you need to push the hat over to one of the cats so that he jumps on top of it. Then push it back over, and freeze the cat directly underneath one of the lowermost breakable blocks. Then you can blow him up with the meteor, which causes a chain reaction that blows up every block that was connected to the first block!

After you do this you still have a little bit of work to do before you finish the level, but that should push you in the right direction. The game doesn't give you much explanation regarding how each object in the game is affected by each spell, so you'll have to do some experimenting to see what causes what to happen. (Here's another hint: shooting lightning at a hat will teleport it to the main character's head.)

Well said and very correct! And to be somewhat fair the game doesn't provide much in-game explanation, however the manual does.
I know, I know... manuals! blah!

thanks so much, accc! i was freezing the cats too early...i am now doing a major facepalm at my own stupidity, lol. i am not the best at puzzles sometimes and was embarrassed at your assessment of how quickly you got thru the first 7 levels and i was stumped so early.

@Septiego: um...yeah...manuals...er...um...probably should check that out...mumble, mumble. :-)

17 levels and 17 platinums down! (I'm going back to beat the platinum time on each stage as soon as I finish it, while the solution is still fresh in my mind.) So far I'm enjoying this every bit as much as the Rabi Laby games. It's really amazing how they keep introducing new ways to use the game's mechanics in each level, making each puzzle feel different than the ones before it and preventing the game from getting repetitive. The same was true of the Rabi Laby games as well The team who makes these games must have some really smart dudes working for them, to keep coming up with so many challenging and unique puzzles.

Question: Do you unlock anything by getting all 50 platinums? Getting all platinums in Rabi Laby 2 opened up a few bonus levels, but they mentioned this in the info page for Rabi Laby 2, while the info for Witch's Cat just says "50 stages designed by the queen".

A little late, but NWR finally put up a review: 6/10.

They said the game controls wonderfully, it looks great in both 2D & 3D, and is very well designed, but they felt that the game is way too difficult to find an audience (stating that they referred to guides as early as world 2, and were unable to complete the game), although they admitted failure was never the game's fault.

Personally, I think it's a bit harsh to dock 4 points because they thought it was too difficult (especially when they said the difficulty isn't cheap), but oh well.

NL: 7/10
NWR: 6/10

Yeah, that review was a bit strange. They should have gotten someone who was a bit more adept at solving puzzles to review it. I didn't think the game was overly difficult, especially compared to something like Crashmo.
