I was wondering if I transfer my games from a DSI to a 3DS will those games be on both systems?

Transfer means to move, so I'm guessing that they will be permanently moved to your 3DS.

I have nothing of interest here.

I mean when they are moved can I still use them on a DSI?

I think once it is moved onto the 3DS, it cannot be played on the DSi anymore. This is just a guess, though. Find out this Monday! :)

pretty sure i read during the recent eShop news frenzy that once transferred, your games will no longer be playable on the original DSi. :3

I think that the "ticket" is transfered from one system to another so although it is only playable on one system but at least it sounds like you only have to transfer individual titles. I was worried for a while that it may have been like transfering your internet settings from one DS to another and it may have ment transferring all or nothing.

... what I want to know is, will this be extended to DSi to DSi because in our household we have 4 DSi's and 1 3DS and only 4 people... obviously I dont need four DSi's now but we have DSiware and all the systems. What I want to do is transfer most of my DSiware to my 3DS and then transfer the remaining DSiware including the stuff I cant send to my 3DS to one of the other Systems.

Another question: Is it legal for us to sell or trade our DSiWare titles with other people by using the transfer?

The games are removed from the DSi and effectively removed from the account on the DSi too so they can't then be re-downloaded in the shop. I think it's more than just a key getting transferred for the game, I think the actual full game including save is transferred. I'm sure I read that somewhere before.

@iphys - Technically, no, the same as it is for selling boxed games, books, music CDs, films and pretty much all other media. When you buy, you buy a non-transferrable license to the content, not the physical (or virtual) item. You are not supposed to sell them, you are not supposed to give them away, you are not supposed to lend them out and people aren't supposed to rent them out. But everyone ignores this.

@iphys - We don't know the precise details of how the update will work, but I'm pretty sure Nintendo will have closed any loophole allowing you to transfer parts of your DSiWare collection to different DSi's.

As far as I know it's not possible to transfer games to a DSi, so I'd guess no.

No. This has been confirmed on NoJ's site.

Once transfered, they are on the 3DS and cannot be moved back

Does anyone know if the transfer process just takes all your games? I want to leave one or two on the DSi as my wife uses it. I don't want to start the whole process if it just takes all downloaded data/games and drops them onto the 3DS.

You can choose what to send or to send the lot in one go.

Is it possible to redownload your dsiware for free after transferring them or do you have to buy them again?

Once you send them to your 3DS, you cannot get them on your DSi for free anymore. You'll most likely have to rebuy them on that DSi. This is all assumption, but from what I've heard so far, it seems to be a safe one.

After trnsferring you can't download them again on you DSi, since the lincence you bought for the game has been moved over to an other console, so if you want the game again on your DSi, you've to buy it again. ;)

EDIT: Blast, ninja'd :P
