“[WiiWare's] 40MB is horrible, but [3DS's] 2GB is reasonable. Super Meat Boy would have been on WiiWare if we could have had just a few more megabytes of space – you can only compress stuff so much before you have to start cutting out huge parts of your game. Unfortunately, at that point, it just isn’t worth the time.”

hehe. No reason we shouldn't see DS games put on eshop. Makes that tales of heart for DD even more interesting.

Exactly. Put a few must-have DS games on the eShop. Otherwise, I hope to see a SMB game on the eShop as soon as possible.

I think 2GB Limit is resonable but as far as seeing downloadable DS games, thats a little far fetched i think. It certainly means we could see some huge Downloadable games. If only they removed the limit, then developers could put their catridge games on the e-shop, and I'd never leave home, haha. In all seriousness though why is there even a limit? if they want devs to compress their game files, why not make them do it before they put it on? I mean having Mighty switch force take up over 1600 blocks is ridiculous. I think they should remove the limit entirely, but games should need to be compressed to some extent.

I heard about a download version of ToH being released in the west too and seeing as 3DSware has this size limit, hopefully we'll see that on the 3DS but at the end of Tales of Innocence R for the Vita, there is a hint at a similar remake for Tales of Hearts (and Tales of the Tempest) so it will be interesting to see what happens with ToH.
Anyway, I'm glad that Nintendo have raised the size limit considerably as this means it will be easier for devs to put their games on the service than it was on Wiiware. It would be good to see some PSN/XBLA games that wouldn't have fitted on Wiiware get released on 3DSware like Super meat boy, Scott Pilgrim vs. the world and Limbo. Or maybe on the Wii U's download service.

2 GB is a lot of data for a handheld download game. HD titles on the PS3 are only several more GBs (not the full PS3 retail games)

Team Meat's contract excluded a PS3 release, but it's not exclusive to the 360. The WiiWare version was still planned for release after the XBLA version was released.

Hopefully means that Super Meat Boy/The Binding of Isaac will get to the eShop.

So I guess it's official that the 3DS-ware game download limit is 2GB? That's a pretty healthy size. Hopefully this means that we'll finally be able to get big and meaty E-shop games.

@V8_Ninja - I recall hearing somewhere that the eShop has a 500 MB limit, but they could've quietly upped that to 2 GB ...
Still, 500 MB, or 4,000 blocks, is plenty of data (hopefully) for SMB and Issac. If they could compress the WiiWare version down to under 100 MB, they could surely get it to work with either the 500 MB or 2 GB limit.

Exactly.

SMB is already less than 500 MB, and Binding of Isaac is only about 50 MB.
