Its a draw, trust me I didn't just make that answer up its based on sound superstition.
there's nothing that's certain... of that you can be certain

I realised recently that you don't have to do many of the bosses in Megaman 2 properly (Or worry about not getting hit in order to succeed). That lowered my opinion of it. Don't like the sprite flicker.

I would suggest SMB1, although MM2 is still great. I suggest picking up both if you can.
Games I'm playing currently: Legend of Zelda: A Link Betweeen Worlds, Tearaway

Well $8.90 isn't going to buy me both. (No tax where I live)

Get the lost levels it will last longer than both combined to master it. (I have still not managed world 9 and there are the secret worlds A-D as well I haven't done). Plus playing with Luigi is like an easy mode. (You can skip over the top of the hardest bits).

Hmmm... Lost levels? Maybe.

If you haven't played it yet, hold out for SMB 3.
I had fun once and it was awful.

I love both games, but Mega Man 2 is damn near perfect. I suggest getting that if you can only have one.
Doesn't talk about games.

I love both, but Mega Man 2 is the better choice.

SMB1 has shown it's age. Mega Man 2 still holds up well. Go with Mega Man 2 unless you have nostalgia for the former or if Run'n Gun platformers are not your thing.
Though if you could wait awhile for SMB3 to come out I'd recommend you to go for that.

I think SMB1 is out of the list. Megaman 2 or SMB3... Choices, choices.... (I love run and gun platformers! Gunman Clive FTW!

Mega Man 2. I've beaten it over half a dozen times and I still come back to it!
