How is this ironic? They never promised GBA games but they did promise 3DS games on eShop :O

That's the irony right there. Why don't they sell Gba games but already put retail on the eshop?

No, irony would be if they sold retail games, but stopped selling eShop games.

I'm not surprised they would start bringing more retail games for download, some of the games like Pilotwings are impossible to find in any store in my town. So its good to always be able to get it via the eShop, where it will still be there for years after they stop making the retail versions of some games.

You would probably be able to get PilotWings Resort for very cheap on amazon (I got it there for $13)

Not if its going to be useless in 10 years since the 5DS won't play 3DS games and the 4DS won't play DS games... If they were all backwards compatible then yes it would be better to have physical, but that's not the case

I don't think Nintendo's gonna keep making new DS's forever. They didn't make Game Boys forever

So your saying all the retail DL's on the eshop now will also be on the eshop of the next handheld just like DSiwares are on the 3DS eshop?

Once more RD come on the eshop, it would be nice to see some deals since NSMB2 got double the CN coins and the new RD get donkey kong, like if you get oot 3d they could give you a four swords (dsi ware) code and some other games could give you a discount on some 3ds ware, its only a idea.

Contrastly, you could keep your 3DS.

Physical games are better in most cases because if they go out of print, you can still purchase them, and people who own them have some good collectibles on their hands.

When a physical game goes out of print, it goes up in value a lot. Take EarthBound for example. The game didn't sell as poorly as people said (for a first-party title, yes it did) but now it goes for over 300 bucks.

When a download game goes out of print, it becomes vaporware. This is especially true for consoles that have not been hacked, as Tetris Party Live is gone for good.

I always buy my 3DS games in store.
ALWAYS. I like having the box (I know that might sound stupid) And when I'm done with the game I can lend it to a friend which an eShop version can't. Of course I love the 3DS ware games but I never liked the thought of downloading Retail games online.

I like being able to have all the games with me though. Also I had a clutter of a mess with the bo><es. I moved a while ago and... I wish I didn't have all those games at the time. Though everyone prefers something else, I am glad we have the choice.

I'm only getting retail if I like the box art or if its a big game. Like nintendogs, I'll probably never get it until it is released in eShop for download. I don't want to switch my game cards just to play with my nintendog, I'd rather have it on my 3DS to access right away! :)

Cause ya know, it's games like nintendogs or Mario kart or crosswords plus that I know I'll go back to. But games like Zelda or Paper Mario I may not go back to once they're done

I hope more retail games comes out as downloads, I like the option. It's nice not having to shuffle through a pocket full of games on a crowded train ride or having regrets that you meet someone with the same multiplayer game as you but left the cartridge at home (small world in NYC).

The only downside to me is not getting them on sale like buy 2 get one free or 20% off like what some store do.

Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.

So, the news is out.

And these prices are freaking nonsensical. It made SOME sense for NSMB2 because it was brand new, but these can mostly be found for cheaper prices.

Mario Kart 7: $30 at KMart
SF643D: Consistently cheaper then $25 online
OOT3D/SM3DL: Varies, but still, you can find it cheaper then $40

Retail Price = (Digital Price + no discounts like PSN or XBLA have) = bite my shiny metal ass, Nintendo.

Seriously, now with the eShop they have a lot of good games and they have really a good online store, but all the games have the same price forever. There was some time they discounted something, but the discount was hilariously low that it only saved you some cents.

Solution to getting the games cheaper: buy the download card they'll be handing out, like the ones shown in the ND that said you could get at 7-11 in Japan, I'm sure those cards will go down in price

I highly doubt it. It's still better to go to the used games section of GAME and hangle a used copy to delete save datas from previous user.

Seriously, that idea to not discounting the price of retail games in download is stupid. They will always get theur money, but this time they dont have to deal with distribution copies. Hell, 25€ for one of those games will still be a fair price.

I'm just gonna fix me previous statement about digital vs retail by saying I do believe options should be available, but I dread the day consoles go fully digital and are unhackable.

No eShop games on the 3DS have gone missing, so we're doing fine.
