I just returned a 2DS with pixels burnt out to Target and exchanged it for a new one.
Unknown to me at the time was that E Shop purchases seem to be device locked and not account locked.

Does anyone know if/how I can go about getting the game I bought back?
I still have my game and save data on the new SD card I had purchased.

Thanks!

Contacting Nintendo is your best bet. Since you bought a faulty system, Nintendo maybe able to compensate your purchase with store credit if your game cannot be recovered at all.

Just show Nintendo your return receipt and they should compensate you without any problems.
