did you have to beat one of the games or the both of them to use the dlc?, I never got really far in both of them and I assumed it there would be new stuff in pop island, but nothing changed.

THIS IS THE BEST NEWS. My favourite DS games are BY FAR Pop Island, Pop Island Paperfield, and Glory Days: Tactical Defense. I hope GD:TD also gets a 3DS sequel!!!!!!!

@undead_terror: I'm not entirely sure what your question meant. Basically if you by either game, they have a certain amount of content relative to the price (Paperfield has less, but it's cheaper). If you own both of them, extra features are added to BOTH games. In singleplayer you play through games to unlock various features, including those that are unlocked by owning both games.

The first game has less added features when you own both though. I think it adds a couple of characters and maybe 1 or 2 maps, whereas the second game gets double the content.

This game isn't called "Pop Island", you might want to change the title of this thread just so someone else won't create another one with the proper title when it comes out.

@grumblegrumble - Check the date stamps; this is a 9-month old thread stating that odenis (at the time) was planning on starting development on a Pop Island game for the eShop this past summer; the actual announcement from today is for some other game they've (apparently) been working on. Hope that clears up confusion!

Exactly.

I didn't know because I own both games, paperfield is suppose to be a dlc to the first game that adds 3 maps and 2 or 3 more charaters which I never saw yet for some strange reason (didn't beat the game yet) and now you tell me paperfield gets all the stuff while the first game got little extra stuff to it.

Ooh, gotcha! So it's not the same game? Rising Board 3D is the one they just announced, I couldn't remember the title earlier. Aren't u guys excited about this game, too, tho?

Definitely excited about Rising Board 3D. My son really enjoyed the Pop Island games so I will probably spend the $3 and get him this game for his birthday which is the week after the game comes out. I'm sure multiple people in the family will play it.

@undead_terror: I think it is described that way because Paperfield itself initially has 3 maps unique to it, and the games are so similar it kind of is like an expansion pack. Also, I think part of the confusion is that you can't tell the difference between the content that is added on by having both games: it doesn't label them differently, it just adds the maps to the original menus. So if you bought both right away, you won't be able to tell what was in the original game and what was added on.

Also, I love how you say "and now you tell me" like it is somehow my fault :P. I think it just has to do with wording. The point is, you get the most content by purchasing both games. Also, it may be 3 maps are added to the first one, I'm not sure either because I purchased Paperfield first. Either way, both games are awesome so I don't think it really matters what content came with the game and what was added - the point is it's all there. You should have 8 maps in Pop Island, and 6 in Paperfield.

Sorry to double post, just wanted to add and ask:

1) So excited for Rising Board! A bit disappointed it isn't another Pop Island game, but really excited to see a new style of game from odenis.

2) Any idea if there WILL be a new Pop Island game in the future? There seems to be some confusion over that...

Thanks! :)

I REALLY hope a sequel come out for Pop Ilsand in 3D! I loved the original and paperfield. Multiplayer was the best part!

Not to dig up a two year old thread, but after playing Rising Board lately, i figured i could finally get Pop Island and paperfield. Well, Pop Island is shown on the 3DS eShop, but the download button is greyed out. Does anyone know why ?

I don't really know.

Is it the same with Paperfield? That one is your better option.

@Moorpheel Paperfield is more or less a 1.5 release as far as i know. But id like to get the extra stages / characters in paperfield that you get when you have the first one too :/
