Ok, I just started the third world.

I am having a really great time with this game. The music-themed world is pleasant and lively, the story is much better than what I was expecting, the songs are a blast to play, and the boss battles get really fun when you try to perfect them for that Great rating. Unlocking faster versions of all the levels (including boss levels) effectively doubles the length of the game.

I think it's well worth the $15 to anyone on the fence about getting it. In time you get pretty well accustomed to the timing.

My only slight complaint is that in the early worlds (I've only got around to completing the first two), it's way too easy to get a Great rating on all the stages.
Even on the stages that I felt that I did really poorly on, I'd still get a great every time so I didn't have to try anything twice besides the occasional boss battle where I might screw up a note.
In saying that, I'm sure it'll change as the game gets harder and during the fast versions.

I've actually found myself doing better on the faster versions. Probably a combination of not overthinking the timing and knowing the song the second time around.

I can imagine charged hits probably being tougher to execute on the faster versions though.

Good to see im not the only one..

anyway question thats probably already been asked, but where's my pokemans! I read you have to beat everything in the Song select to unlock them? That seems dumb.. tho i wouldn't put it past the game as I'm not too impressed by it...

@Placlu If you go into the Song slect menu, the Pokemon themes should be under Bonus.
You unlock one after each world I believe.

Since buying it on Thursday, I'm enjoying this game and the $15 was worth it. I was surprised to find out the demo was actually much harder than it should've been. The 3D effect impresses me the most. The boss fights are cool. It's pretty easy to get "Greats" except for certain boss fights. The only thing I'm struggling with at the moment is jumping off of drums. Besides that, the rest of the presentation is solid.

Do go on...I'm still on the fence due to difficulty!

@Phillip: The problem with the demo besides the difficulty spike was that they cherry-picked levels of various difficulties, not levels from the first world that would've been easier on new players. The bee boss was actually the boss of World 2. The bicycle level was the bonus level of World 1 that's unlocked only by beating the world. I think they should've replaced the bee boss with the giant robotic dog boss (Growlord) in the demo.

And about that bee boss, I still can't do the turns in the canyon.

I am usually rather bad at games. But I beat the bee boss in my third try.

For the bee boss to do the turrns you have to do it right as you would hit the wall

I have to say I'm a little disappointed by this game. On most of the stages, it feels like your actions are more melodic than rhythmic. The fact that picking up the notes makes the melody doesn't really help the player find the beat. I'm in no way saying this game is bad, I actually really enjoy it. I'm just saying that rhythmically, Game Freak was a little off. Oh, and every level in the first world seems to be a variation of the same song.

@Sensei_PikPik, Yeah it's not really a rhythm game.

Maybe that's why for releases outside of Japan they took "Rhythm Hunter" out of the title? Or maybe it was just to make it shorter

Anyways, I'm on World 7: Baroque Volcano right now, and I'm enjoying it :3

I finally figured out how to jump off of drums and I just beat the final boss. I enjoyed the game all the way through and I'm glad I got it. The musical beat of the levels is sure to make me keep coming back for more. Getting golds on all the levels actually sounds like a real possibility for me.

I still haven't downloaded the full version it looks great. This game looks like it requires tremendous skill and I don't consider myself that skilled as a gamer. The demo was fun but I could never run a perfect level after 20 or more runs through a demo stage. I'm still on the fence of getting this one. I probably will at some point but so many great games lately I just cant find the time to play them all.
