if it looks similar to the music visualisation , it should more than fine !
i had lots of fun with this game in the past. simple, fun, the editor was a blast. i think its the first game i played that included an editor.
the first time, and I dont recall seeing other games with editor for a long while after this one.
was there ?

currently playing:
Final Fantasy IV DS
Ratchet and clank All4One
3DS : Sam : 3050-7590-3005

I can't wait to try out the editor, I wonder if their will be any form of sharing?

it needs to have !
downloading a bunch of user created tracks would make the game infinite, or close to it.

It's actually in 3D. Not just stereoscopic either!

I'm really surprised at how Nintendo actually put some effort into this. This makes me 10x more excited for the 3D Classics. :3

I made Kid Tripp! PocketGamer gave it a 9 out of 10! You should totally buy it now!

Played it for the first time in my life. I suck at this... haha

Quote me for my 3DS friend code :)

I am horrible at this. On my first race I crashed so many times, I think I was at least 10-15 seconds over the 3rd place time...

It's still fun though, and I love creating tracks for the game as well.

I love this game. I've gotten considerably better at it since I started playing yesterday too.

I LOVE this game. Ohhhh my gosh. It is a b**ch to get your head around, but once you do it's incredibly fun trying to beat your times. Here's a few tips:

  • When jumping off a ramp, press right on the d-pad to go low and far (and fast), and press left to go high and short (and slow). Generally you'll want to be holding right off of ramps.
  • Don't boost all of the time. Save it for ramps, and only use it on straight stretches when your engine heat is fairly low. Also, don't boost while in midair, as it's a complete waste.
  • When you land always try to keep your wheels level with the ground. Bumping on the ground slows you down.
  • Do a wheelie (left on the d-pad) when going over the bumps in the later tracks to avoid crashing.
  • If you do crash, alternate pressing A+B rapidly to get back on your bike faster.
  • Avoid mud and grass as they slow you down considerably.

Also, Challenge Set A is just solo time trials. Challenge Set B is the same, except it has other bikers too. Both sets have the same 5 tracks.

Do you happen to know if Excitebike 3D has its own customizable option for 3D? For some reason I don't see it very well (except for maybe the handles on the bike). Other games I can see 3D pretty easily in though.

@TheSolarKnight: There aren't any options besides adjusting the 3D slider. The 3D mode actually changes the angle of the camera and renders the track as 3D polygons, and thus allows stereoscopic 3D. If you push it up all the way you'll be able to see the sky... I wish you see that in 2D since it looks really cool. (I guess I could always close one eye? lol)

@pixelman

The transition from 2D to 3D on this one is truly amazing; the slider changes so much more than just the stereoscopic part, as you noted. It's fun to drop back to 2D and then slide it up again; like watching it all come to life.

This makes me very excited for future 3D classics. I can't wait to see all the transitions.

Twitter is a good place to throw your nonsense.

I KNOW. My jaw dropped when I did it the first time, I was totally not expecting that. And plus, when you see it in 2D, it's still being rendered in 3D. If you want an example take a look at the starting post, and you'll see it's a polygon. It's a programming marvel~

And yeah, I cannot wait to see what they do next. It's astounding to see Nintendo actually put some work into their classic re-releases, haha.

I don't understand the 3D setting page. It says "Adjust the intensity of th e3D effect. Set the 3D depth slider to the highest level." And then what?

Sigourney Beaver.

pixelman

It's the works the way the 3D slider works in games like Pilotwings. The 3D slider adjusts the camera view, like I mentioned above, and the intensity of the 3D is adjusted from that menu. You can change it with the circle/d-pad (not the touch screen, that confused me for awhile).

I don't think the touchscreen does anything in this game, because I keep making the mistake of tapping it only to realize I should hit the A button. At first I thought it was just lazy, but maybe they did it on purpose because it's a retro game.
