I recently downloaded Dillon's Rolling Western, it is a little bit fun (not too great) but I have a big problem with it: I am the kind of player that if the game shows you 5 stars, I have to get them in each level, because if I won't there will be a blank star on the screen and this is annoying me. However, the game is reallt reallt hard for me.. I destroy most Grocks by myself because I don't have much money for guns and I know that it will be even harder in later stages. For now I have quit from the game but I have to ask that: Will it get easier to gain money? After finishing all the stages, is it still hard getting 5 stars on each level? How many of you ever got 5 stars on each level?

I've gotten five stars on all but the last four villages. This game is hard for sure, but it takes practice (which is why the ranger's in-game motto is "practice makes perfect"). As for the stars, unless you are really good, you pretty much can't get five stars your first time around. Here's my advice. Play through the entire game and don't worry about the stars. Now, after finishing it, you should have a nice pile of cash. You can go back to the previous villages and take as much cash as you want with you (You don't have to beat the whole game to increase the cash limit. Just the village in question). You NEED plenty of cash so you can buy more guns to help you clear the Grocks faster. As for getting money, you will earn more on later stages, but you'll also probably be spending more. Don't worry though, you should come out of it with a profit. By the time I finished the game, I had nearly 100,000 currency units, and I only had to do another run through of the first village to reach that mark. I'm not gonna lie: this game is stressful and hard, but you can do it if you keep trying. I'd also recommend picking up the sequel later after you're done with this game. It's better in a lot of ways: better frame rate on the plains, graphics are a bit sharper, more villages, the hired gun (which helps a lot in some stages), defending a train in a few stages, and the characters feel a bit more fleshed out since they all have 3D character models now as opposed to just 2D representations of them while speaking. Also, you can explore the plains at night after a raid, but there's not much to do at night. Plus, I don't know if this applies to the first game or not, but in The Last Ranger, if you get a game over, you will be allowed to increase the starting cash without even clearing the village first.

Oh, and if you need some advice as to how to place your guns, there's a nice FAQ walkthrough for this game on GameFAQs. I'll go ahead and link it in case you want to use it later.

Keep in mind, however, that this guide is assuming that you have already beaten the game and can use as much money as you need.

Thanks for your awsome comment! I already saw that FAQ and that was when I quit the game, cause it all seems really confusing. Have you ever tried using this FAQ in order to get 5 stars in the last levels? If so, why did you failed? have you had less money than needed or what?

@Giygas_95 OH. MY. GOD.
I recently went back to DRW2 and tried Side Stage 4. One of the quests was to find a beetle at night and I got so angry because I couldn't find it.
But I was looking during the Grock raids.
I'd forgotten you could go out at night.
I hate myself -_-

@liavcol You're welcome! It's really not too confusing actually because you just have to place the kinds of guns on the gun towers that he tells you to and then you just have to be quick and immediately kill any grocks the towers can't reach. I didn't get 5 stars on villages 7 through 10 because even though I did what he said to on 7 and had plenty of money, I just wasn't fast enough. I may try again some time, but that guide does seem to work quite well. As for villages 8, 9, and 10, I just haven't gotten around to them yet. Hope you enjoy the game!

Also, I was really disappointed to learn that Dillon would be an assist trophy in the upcoming Smash Bros...I mean, I was glad to see him get some recognition, but after all that hoping and waiting (and thinking, "Nah, it'll never happen.") for him to be announced as a character...he just got added as an assist trophy...It's a shame too because he looks GREAT in the screenshot Sakurai posted. People seem worried that he'd be a Sonic clone. Solution? I'd toss Sonic out and replace him with Dillon. Sonic's had his spotlight in Smash Bros. Time for someone else who's actually a Nintendo character!

@C-Olimar Hah, yep, you have to go out after the grock raid for that! Don't hate yourself though!

@Barbiegurl777 Same problem my brother has. Great graphics and story, but didn't get very far. I think the game's surprsingly difficult. There should be an easier mode for folks who want to get through the game!
