Because I am beyond insane (and also due to an effort to make writing a novel seem easy by sheer comparison; bloody aspiring-writer's block), I have compiled a list of every game that has ever been offered for download on North America's Club Nintendo site.

Each game is listed in the following format with certain details:

Game title/Service type/Coins required/Month and year the game began its availability, followed by any applicable months/years where it returned

If a game was offered a second (or third) time at a later date, that month and year will be listed immediately after the first date.

Will any of this be of any real use to anyone? I doubt it. But, I challenged myself to plow through it and finish it, and I did just that, over the course of three brutal hours. If nothing else, I'm proud that I was able to commit myself to gathering all of the info together and painstakingly formatting it into a simple list (big thanks to Nintendo Life and their News posts, where I obtained most of this info from). Posting the list here simply makes more sense to me than keeping it to myself, in the event that someone should gain something from it. Hell, for all I know, maybe it can be used to predict what games will be offered next.

Did this project remove some or all of my frustrating aversion to creative writing, despite my genuine interest in it? (I have taken several college courses on the subject, after all.) I feel that it did, as I just started sifting through my five years worth of notes of the subject, (including many character lines and plot devices that came to me over the years that I would jot down to avoid forgetting), and plan to finish organizing them by genre, something I started years ago.

"Fun" facts:

  • Games have been offered on the North American Club Nintendo service for exactly two years, Dec/11-Dec/13.
  • In that time, 68 unique games have been available to choose from.
  • Of those games, 24 of them have been offered on two occasions.
  • Of those 24 games, six of them have been offered on three occasions.
  • One of the thrice-offered games is 3D Classics: Urban Champion. This game did not need to be offered three times.
  • Super Mario Kart, Pilotwings, and Art Style: Cubello are the only games that increased in redemption value (from 100 to 150 coins, as noted on the list) between their initial and most recent appearances. Their value grew in Nintendo's eyes, it would seem.

Now away we go, with the games listed in the order in which they were first released:

I actually appreciate this list, and the data collection. I'll use it as reference in the future. You should update it every month.

That said, the stat that 136 unique games have been offered is inaccurate, by about double. I didn't count them up, but it's closer to 70. Even if they offered 4 unique games a month, that could only total 100 games (4 x 25 months = 100). Plus we know it's not that high since, as you said, there have been numerous repeats.

Ugh, of course. When I used Word to do a line count, it included all of the manual double-spacing I did, doubling the true amount. Thanks for pointing that out; can't believe I didn't catch that myself (though in fairness, I was pretty wiped after finishing the list).

There have actually been 68 unique games offered, after counting them myself. Glad you appreciate my creating the list, and I'll consider updating it as time goes on.

I looked around for an edit option prior to my second post yesterday, but didn't see one, and still don't. Maybe it's not available right away to new users?

Hey kudos to the list; it's actually pretty helpful! It's up to you, but you could also add the titles that Nintendo offered as free downloads for Gold/Platinum members.
I think I've downloaded about 4 or 5 from Club Nintendo, saving me quite a few bucks in the process. If I remember correctly they were:
Fluidity
ExciteBike: World Rally
Metroid II
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Gold Membership free download)
Dillon's Rolling Western

Currently obsessed with Fire Emblem: Awakening

And now we wait patiently for Nintendo's reveal of April's games. .....Any time now....

Now playing:
Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS) | Fire Emblem Awakening (3DS) | Mario Kart 8 (Wii U)
Dream Address: 4100-3259-5964
I would come up with a clever name for my backloggery, but my name prevents it.

3D Classics: Urban Champion is horrible. I regret buying that game with Coins. It was fun for literally 10 minutes before it grew stale.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I do plan on getting a PS4 someday :D

Great list, you should add the 2014 games and update the list monthly. That would make this a nifty little resource to reference

This actually was useful to me since I was wondering the likeliness of them offering a game I'd really like. I guess the answer is it's probably not going to happen. Haha, I'll pick something that isn't too terrible then...

Nintendo keeps pushing Urban Champion on people. UC is like that annoying guy nobody likes, but one of your friends continues to push on you anyway for some inexplicable reason. You smile politely while he's hanging around with your friend, but if you see him approaching on the same side of the street while you're alone you'll cross over to the other side so you don't have to talk to him.

Urban Champion was never a classic in the first place and should never have been remade.
