Bought the game last night and finished it this morning. A little bit disappointed because I wanted to learn more about Latis and Cereza. Oh well, it was a lot of fun even though it barely lasted 3 hours. I had every items, beside the one that can be bought at the shop(got the cape to go through fire cloumns though) and I wasn't full upgraded(stats).

On nintendo website, it says "Explore and discover a significant side quest". Anyone knows what is it? because if I count the items I didn't buy at the shop, my inventory would be full and I don't remember any passage I wasn't able to go through when I found them.

I kinda Blew through the first 2 bosses without looking for side passages. I have started looking for them before I move on to the 3rd boss. I just love the Music in this game. It reminds me of so many PCE titles

Yeah, the music is nice.

It's just in my nature to look for everything before moving on. I hate missing anything. After finishing the game, I went back to check Bloody Vampire on nintendo and notice that line about sidequest. Maybe I did it without noticing. :/

What's PCE?

The user septiego works for Agetec, I think you got lost in the wall-a-quotes.

Miyamoto on his desire to focus more on the (hard)core Nintendo fan.

[The casual] attitude is, ‘okay, I am the customer. You are supposed to entertain me.’ [...] and to me it’s kind of a pathetic thing.

Yeah I probably did. If he see's this post they should have a 3D video of Bloody Vampire in the game description Nothing to be embarrassed about with that game. It's not Gunman Clive but darn close Agetec! I am very happy with the product

PCE is the Japanese PCEngine which also came out in Europe. The system in the USA was the Turbografx which never really took off in the USA even though it had some great games-Air Zonk a nice shooter-Star Soldier another nice shooter-Neutopia 1 and 2 zelda Type RPG's Great-Beyond Shadowgate Point and click sequel to Shadowgate- DraculaX/ Castlevania considered by most to be the best Castlevania of all time. I could make a huge list.

Bloody Vampire reminds me so much of a good PCEngine sidescroller with a Little Ys 1 and 2 thrown in. Like Gunman Clive Bloody Vampire just has a nice feel to it

Since someone working for the dev is in here I'll report a bug: the first boss (mini-boss?), the large blue slime, got me stuck in a "wall." I put that in quotes because there wasn't actually a wall there, but I was embedded in the air and couldn't move. I was in the narrow corridor on the left when you enter the room, he hopped over to me and hit me with one of his slime projectiles, and that knocked me into the wall. I couldn't move (though I could jump) and had to restart the game.

When the event is triggered, the boss doesn't give you enough to time to move. When you see it, just keep running to the right. That's how I killed it.

So, I take it you're reviewing this one? Hopefully it's as good as those in this thread have said it is. Certainly seems interesting.

I worked my way back from the end boss's location and did a bunch of exploring, and now I seem to be close to maxing out my stats (my attack is 2 points lower than the other three stats, though I'm not sure if they're at maximum) and spells (I'm just missing Lvl 3 Fire). My inventory still has a ton of empty slots though, what's up with that? I'm still lamenting the absence of a map; I just explored a large area that I missed the first time around and got the level 3 Dark Magic, and I passed a stack of blocks earlier that I couldn't break with level 2 Dark, but I'll be damned if I can remember where they were! Exploring the open levels, finding upgrades and using spells is tons of fun, but I really wish the game had a map.

Maybe if this is successful enough the developers can add in a map and fix that bug through an update. Honestly, this is turning out way better than expected. I'm still waiting for a review, but I'm interested.

I wouldn't count on a map being added in an update. The Agetec guy that was in here earlier said that the game doesn't have a map because they felt it would make the game too easy. I can respect their decision, but I still would've preferred a map.

Did the original Metroid have a map?

Nope.

Did people still have fun?

Yes.

Did Metroid Zero Mission have a map? Yes. Was Zero Mission a better game than Metroid? Yes, by a billion miles.

Has this happen to you more then once? Also, any other details you can think of.... like was this at the start of the battle? Any details would be most appreciated.

This and Witch's Cat look good but I'm iffy on them. A demo would really help with both.

Fusion wasn't better than OG Metroid for the map anyway, but I do agree that all metroidvania's in this age should make it a habit to include a map. Since it isn't that easy to get lost in this game, I'll give it the slip. So far, I beat 4 bosses and I am enjoying the game so far in spite of all the rough edges. Sure, the battle system is awkward at first, the story didn't really grab me and the spritework and tiles, while adequate, could use a bit more detailing but aside from all those irks I enjoyed the game for what it is, a simple $5 metroidvania. I wouldn't mind to see more releases/localizations of titles from Arc or Silver star, I'm personally interested in that Kunio-kun eshop game.

For Myself, and I don't know why. Bloody Vampire has a Nostalgic feel to it and plays like games I played on PCEngine/TurboGrafx Like Bonks Revenge, Ys and Dragons Curse. It brings in some wonderful memories of playing those titles way back in 1992. I think its the retro style Backgrounds and Music which give it that Nostalgic feel. The game is by no means perfect. But a good time? Definately My own Rating would be a strong 7 and a recommendation to sidescroller fans to get it, you wont be dissapointed

I was going to skip right over this one, but Windy's comments in this thread are convincing me to reconsider. If this receives a positive review from NL then I'll probably download it.
