Also before I forget, if anybody has knowledge of javascript and designs a game for the DSi I'll gladly post it on the site.

I am currently working on one, more details to come... ;)

So I managed to carve out a few minutes and look at the code. The issues are mostly just typos. Chatlog.php has this issue:

'lol' => "<img src='/chat/lol.gif'>",

':|' => "<img src='/chat/neutral.gif'>"

'<censored>'=>"fudge-o",

Look right after "neutral.gif". Notice anything missing? There's a comma that needs to be added in.

The submit.php file has a problem here:

print "<script language="Java Script" type="text/javascript">n";

The basic issue is that you have too many quotes. The quotes around "Java Script" (which is incorrect, it should all be one word) and the quotes around "text/javascript" are interfering with the quotes around your "print" statement. The parser doesn't get it and dies. You need to escape the quotes with backslashes. e.g.:

print "<script language=\"Javascript\" type=\"text/javascript\">n";

That being said, I don't see any reason to use the "print" functionality in the first place. Just put the tag outside the <?php?> tags and it will work fine. :)

Another potential bug I noticed is in your submit/view process. You're inserting the records into the database, but never deleting them. That's going to increase query time as more messages get inserted into the system.

As a more general architectural comment, you're going to run into performance issues if you get any sort of high transaction rate. For comparison, DSiCade services anywhere from 6-16 requests per second. That means we often hit 1,000,000 requests per day. If your site manages to get that kind of volume at some point in the future, your database is going to thrash. DSiCade handles the situation by using an in-memory representation of the chat log. The memcache solution provided by our hosting provider (Google) automatically provides synchronization, and updates take a mere millisecond or two. This gives us a high transactional capacity. In addition, the use of Google's cloud service provides DSiCade with fast servers distributed across the world for the lowest latencies and quickest download times available.

In other words, we're built for scale.

I'm not saying you're going to have to solve such an issue, but it's something to keep in mind if you really want to provide a large community with instant interactivity. ;)

Buzy day today, although I did manage to find some time to work on DSiHub today! First off you'll notice there is no longer the how to become a mod logo up on the homepage. This is due to the high volume of emails I have recieved over the past few week of people looking to become mods... I have sent emails to all of those whom have been accepted to be mods, but as of now mod applications are no longer being excepted. Please note this may change in the future as site population grows, but for the amount of users there are now we have plenty of mods. If you didnt get an email back don't give up, try applying later, you never know you may be accepted! ;) Moving on, you'll also notice user reviews have been added to the 'more pages' section of the home page. If you buy a DS game, or DSiWare game that you like or, well, dont like feel free to send in your review for the community to see. This can be done through my email. Getting ready for the DSiHub Alpha the home page will be getting some major upgrades starting tomorrow! Well, I think that's all for now. Keep a close eye on DSiHub in the next few days I think you might be surprised! ;)

Sorry everyone I havn't been feeling the best lately. Also, the chat scripts are messed up like that because as I said, I just found them online and I didn't really go through them, I only did just to change the variables, links, etc.
ALSO: This is my first time using XML, so we were obviously going to run into some troubles.

Another thing, we are going to have to make a new XML system for the chat room because it is using MySQL right now :(

FYI, NintendoLife has a bug where it eats your backslashes for breakfast. You need to double-backslash to have them show up. e.g. \\

This will not work:
print <?php "<script language=\"Javascript\" type=\"text/javascript\">\n";?>

This will:

<?php
//do some stuff
?>
<script language="Javascript" type="text/javascript">
//Javascript goes here
</script>
