I didn't have any trouble with the mothership at all
Wonder what thats like :/ .... Geez.... even with you guys tip I struggled so much with the mothership that after I finally got pass that boss it kinda felt like I beat the game.Yes, I know I suck at this one
You're not alone. I got stuck on the mothership for a while too.
This game is amazing. I really like the two-tone palettes and the music is awesome. Plus the gameplay's fun too. And it's only 800 points I just beat the K.R.A.B. and I'm at rank C.
OK if anyone's having trouble with the mothership level, here's what I did:
U DO NOT have to have missiles ready. Instead, go into flight mode and stay under the mothership. Target the 4 "wings on the mothership, or those triangular things that jut out. Keep firing at them with regular shots as you circle underneath the ship, and you'll probably beat it with about 30 seconds to spare.
I'm at rank B right now, as I've been playing for at least 6 hours. It's an excellent game and tied with Thorium Wars as being the best DSiWare game available imo. I hope they make a sequel or something.
@Qwikman It's even better if you shoot missiles at the four weak points, as it takes out an eighth of its health. That's two missiles per triangular thing.
@Quikman: Did you upgrade your shot power or shields first when you went up to rank E? I upgraded my shields but think that may have been a mistake for the mothership level.
I agree KS8. While Thorium Wars is a respectable effort overall it's just too darn hard to entice me to keep playing. Not to mention each mission is an hour long. X-Scape, on the other hand, is perfectly paced.
Finally at the Earth mission rank A and after dying too much I decided to rest for a while. Aside from precipice, X-scape is easily one of the best dsiware games out there. It is basically starfox if the ship was turned into a tank with a mix of battlezone. The graphics are depicted as polygon models similar to the ps1 games but with added futuristic style ala Tron mixed with star fox. the framerate is as good as any other solid ds game sporting slick animation to compliment the art style of this game, speaking of which, exhibits a two tone color design for each stage giving a varied atmoshpere for every level. The sound and music also mix well with the futuristic theme, and it is solid. The controls for this game has two modes, touch or buttons, while I prefer the buttons, the touch controls are more precise. So far, I've played for approximately 6 hours and am at rank A. This game just proves what the dsiware is capable of and how retro 3d gaming is really done. An easy 95% for me.
Edit: anyone notice a F-zero reference in one of the racing side missions?
Anyone notice a reference to Starship Defense? One of the missions in that game is called Over Taros, while the first planet you go to in X-Scape is also called Taros.
Wow the mother ship was hard. Well, not insanly hard, but I wouldn't call it easy. And the KRAB was quiet interesting. Long but fun levels. And I just love what that scientist does for you!

Just finished the game yesterday. The last boss is of perfect difficulty; not too hard but not easy either. I beat him on my first try. I like how u can do all of the quests how ever many times you want and how you can still continue the game even after finishing it.
