I was thinking that what if Nintendo uses the Wi-Fi and creates a special DSiWare program where a person can chat with someone face to face since there are cameras and a mic to speak in? It could be the first "picture phone" for the DSi.
After all, there was a Simpsons episode where Lisa sees a vision of 2010 which included a "picture phone" and 2010 is not that far off now.
I need my puppet princess.

It could work since Nintendo lately said about a rumor that Skype will come for the DSi that they don't have plans for it but that it would be technically possible (if I remember rightly). But I don't know whether the camera can send videos in realtime... but it would be a cool app especially if you could call computers and maybe even Phones, too like with Skype
PS: "After all, there was a Simpsons episode where Lisa sees a vision of 2010 which included a "picture phone" and 2010 is not that far off now." - If you mean by "picture phone" a phone where you can see each other while calling: those phones exist since 2000 or so
Probably getting a Vita with LBP soon...

That would be cool, but there could be a 3-word problem:

This is ground control to major Tom, you've really made the grade. And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare

@geek-master: they're talking about a picture-chat option, kinda like Wii Speak but for the DSi.

They've existed for a lot longer than that!
The technology was delivered back in the 90's. In the 80's, everyone thought it would be a good idea. So when the tech actually arrived... well... it wasn't nearly as good of an idea as it had seemed like in the movies. It took another 10 years or so for the tech to find a useful and economical purpose such as teleconferencing.
