I need help finding the Monkey Magic in the first dungeon.

Still rockin' the GameBoy brick. Yes, I do believe it's portable. It fits in my satchel.

I can't remember that part. I think it was just get the key for the bottom-right door near the beginning, then keep going and use your hair to hit all the purple blocks. It should be a one-way path to the monkey magic.

Okay, double-checked it. From the start of the dungeon, go to the second screen and go through the bottom right door. Keep going until you get to the room with chains going up, ignore them and take the door on the right. You're now in a tall room with lots of purple blocks, a locked door in the middle. Fall all the way to the bottom door and keep going to get the key. (In the key room, use your hair to solve the puzzle by turning the giant block into a shape). Go back to the tall room, you'll have to remove a block with your hair to jump up to the middle door. From the middle door, keep going until you go up and over a wall using the elevator pads. This will drop you into the fountain room where you learn magic.

I'll use an easier description when I know which room you're at.

@MysteriousVoice: Well, use the key where jdarrell said and you'll have the elephant soon.

@jdarrell: I know they do in general, but I'm not sure which specific purchase made the books appear. I guess it was the first hair product...probably...eh, whatever.

I've now finished a 100% game, so I should be able to help with any questions about specific tricky caves (there are a couple of really tough to figure out ones) or "why can't I find the last Magic Jam?" type situations.

I just completed the Ammo Tower, I dunno where to go now....

The town folks says I should search the desert for the elephant and monkey dash... but I have no idea where and how... anyone knows?

thanks!

@Slave: Have you gone to the forest and obtained elephant power yet?

hmmm... nope, where to in the forest?

@Slave: I believe (because it is true) that jdarrell has already answered your question in post #20. See?

I find it odd that you're NOT the first one to have this problem. I thought it was perfectly obvious that when you're given the forest key, you should go to the locked door in the forest that you SHOULD have seen whilst exploring earlier in the game.

I was thinking that same thing. As soon as the guy at the battle tower gave me that key the very first thing that popped into my mind was that mysterious locked door in the forest.

lol I didn't... I went to see the friends that gives you hints, and they said to go in the deserts and get the elephant and monkey dash... so I went and looked in the deserts for areas I haven't gotten, and couldn't find anything :( . The hint system suck.

And know what, being on the "what sucks about this game" subject, know what sucks the most in this game? The summon/morphing thing. In the first Shantae, you had a sort of DDR to dance to... I dunno about you guys but I thought it was really nice, fun, and a cool way to do things... I was really looking foward for the DDR dance thing once the first person I talked to randomly in the village told Shantae "Hey whats up, never see you around, will you come and dance some more on stage?" thought like "F-Yeah! its still there!" but I haven't seen it anywhere Really disappointed about it. Its such an awesome game, sucks they left out the DDR portion out from the original.

Anyway thanks! Yeah Got the elephant now, and the coffee maker and coffee beans... gonna explore the desert some more, I know I seen some boulders to bash in there :)

That's needlessly hard to read with all the cross-out text...I do agree on the point of the nerfed dancing, though; it's pretty much the only way in which this game is inferior to the original. It's a worthy trade-off in my book for everything it improved, though.

Could somebody kindly explain where I am to find the elephant?

Did you get the forest key from the time trial tower?

If so, go to the screen before Rottytops. The cave to the left of the pit should be the one that uses the forest key.

Is that time trial tower in the Baron Desert?

Yep, I guess it's called the battle tower. You need to get the deed (go to the left of where you start the game) then trade it for a permit at far left of desert. Then take the caves to bottom right of the desert.

Uh... whats up with that? First of all, I only see 4-5 words crossed out, and I never crossed them out.... its automatic. Trying to edit the text, and everything looks good... no crossed out text... the forum's weird lol

MysteriousVoice

Cant find monkey dash. Ive found coffee beans and a broken machine. Now wuts.

A Mysterious Voice suddenly speaks out to you....
......Whos there?

jdarrell

I believe Monkey Dash is in a cave to the right of the battle tower. Anyway, start there and work backwords I guess.

Late edit: This was elephant smash
